Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of IBES, the Director of Strategic Operations guides the development and execution of Strategic Operations for IBES across the Institute's portfolios of research, education, public engagement, and partnerships (both internal and external).The Director of Strategic Operations will be responsible for guiding progress towards strategic objectives, overseeing workflow across teams comprised of faculty, staff, and students, as well as external partners, and developing storytelling and reporting materials for key internal and external stakeholders. As a member of the IBES Leadership Team, this position supports evidence-based decision-making that will guide investments, policy development, and programmatic design in support of IBES Strategic Plan goals and objectives.
The IBES Director of Strategic Operations is responsible for oversight, implementation, management, and communication efforts for the IBES Strategic Plan, focused on advancing solutions-engaged interdisciplinary research and education grounded in a robust network of internal and external partners. The IBES Director of Strategic Operations will supervise the IBES Associate Director of Communications and may supervise additional staff and student workers.
Qualifications:
Education
  • Master's degree in business, educational administration, or environmental science or related field, with 8-10 years of professional experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education (i.e. Bachelor's degree with 12 or more years of experience or a Doctoral degree with 4-6yrs of experience).
  • Previous experience in higher education or with an environmentally-focused institution is preferred.

  • Strong ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, with the energy and dynamism to inspire others and effectively engage internal and external constituents
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating a diverse set of partnerships in support of institutional priorities, with particular emphasis on strategies for inclusive and equitable community partnerships
  • Excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience with project management tools and software
  • Fundraising and gift stewardship expertise
  • Experience managing complex, multi-month assignments with multiple contributors and review phases under strict timelines
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment
