Job description

Welcome to the forefront of asset stewardship and acquisitions! As the Director of Strategic Investments at EMF, you're shaping our presence. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, your role involves strategic planning and collaboration with various departments.

In this role, you're not just aiding in the acquisitions; you're orchestrating their impact. Join us at the intersection of strategy and excellence, where your leadership will resonate far beyond the airwaves!

Here’s just some of what you will be doing daily…

  • Contribute to long term planning and vision implementation through identification of Strategic development initiatives, collaboration, prioritization, communication, and evaluation of results, while preserving EMF’s reputation for integrity and excellence.
  • Engage Chief Finance Officer (CFO) on media industry and signal development issues, trends, and proposals for strategic initiatives and delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments such as Finance, Legal, Technology, Leasing, and other departments.
  • Contribute to stewardship of existing assets, including signals, and to strategic planning and implementation for Strategic Investments, with a focus on department goals, timelines, budgets, communication, results tracking, and celebration.
  • Assess Strategic Investments performance against both annual goals and plans. Provide strategic recommendations based on operational analysis, research, and projections, cost identification and allocation, and resource analysis.
  • Ensure tools and systems are in place to provide critical operational and project information to the CFO and others and make actionable recommendations on both strategic goals and operational constraints.
  • Ensure EMF’s FCC applications are processed and approved by providing technical expertise and project management to a team of Signal Development Specialists chartered with the completion of FM full power and FM translator FCC applications.
  • Work with the CFO to establish targets and measures that adequately reflect Strategic Investments objectives.
  • Plan and manage FCC application projects. Ensure projects are completed on time and on budget, with exceptional quality.  Provide leadership in defining and communicating project scope and schedules; prioritize and establish deadlines; assist with workflow; and manage standards, quality, and acceptance rate of applications.
  • Continually evaluate and make recommendations for further acquisition opportunities. Review existing facilities and analyze and recommend further site opportunities.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of FCC rules and regulations. Ensure staff and department is thoroughly trained and understands FCC broadcast rules and regulations.
  • Regularly suggest and implement improvements and innovations in FCC application process, resulting in increased efficiency, quality, and acceptability rate.
  • Independently complete FM station applications to include creation of standard and engineering exhibits, completion of FCC application forms, and electronically filing FCC applications.

We are looking for a very specific skill set and business acumen. If you can say yes to each of these requirements, then we want to meet you!

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or combination of education/training with relevant experience.
  • 5 to 7+ years’ experience in Asset Transactions, including signals, corporate real-estate or other assets, or similar relevant experience.
  • Expert financial analysis and negotiation skills.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of FCC Broadcast rules and regulations.
  • Advance knowledge and understanding of V-Soft and Comstudy broadcast software.
  • Project management experience with proven ability to plan, organize, lead and direct projects.
  • Proven ability to deal with multiple, simultaneous problems in a systematic, logical manner.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams)
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with strong service mentality. Need to be seen as a team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the social sector with a passion for our mission and values.
