Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley (PPPSGV) has been proudly serving our community since 1933 and is one of the original Planned Parenthood affiliates in the nation. 
 
We provide reproductive health care, health education and advocacy from our five health centers in Alhambra, Baldwin Park, Glendora, Highland Park, and Pasadena, in addition to our telehealth clinic.  We strive to ensurethesexual and reproductive health services we provide align withtheneeds ofthecommunities we serve. Our service area extends from Glendora to Glendale and fromtheSan Gabriel mountains totheSan Bernardino freeway, home to 24 communities and a diverse population of 1.4 million people. 
 
Today, PPPSGV sees over 60,000 patient visits per year and delivers over 15,000 opportunities for sex and relationship education in our schools and colleges.  
 
We offer safe and legal abortions.  We are committed to providing accurate, non-judgmental care and resources by helping our patients overcome financial, transportation, and other barriers to care.  In addition, we work with abortion funds and practical support network to support our patients.   Our abortion care has increased every year since 2018 with an average of 3,500 abortions per year.  We saw close to 4,000 abortion patients in 2022 alone, approximately 59 were out-of-state patients. 
 
The Director of Strategic Expansion is responsible for managing large-scale operational expansion in a structured and thoughtful way in order to achieve mission and business outcomes. The Director will lead the affiliate from start to finish through the launch of a new building in Pasadena that will house both a health center and our administrative staff. The Director will also oversee the affiliate's expansion into a new city in our service area. The Director will also help evaluate and roll out new program expansion opportunities as needed (must be based close to Pasadena or willing to relocate).
As a Director of Strategic Expansion, you will change lives while you:
    • Facilities Expansion Project Management:
    • Champion key facility expansion initiatives that support affiliate location strategy goals, while working closely with senior leaders, Public Affairs, Facilities and key stakeholders to incorporate expansion vision, scope and requirements
    • Lead the planning, development, and implementation of facility construction projects
    • Develop detailed project plans insuring facility development projects stay on-track, are adequately informed by key stakeholders, are carefully scheduled, staffed and integrated in larger health operations, and run within clearly defined budgets and timeline
    • Identify project critical paths and risk areas; safeguard progression of critical path and ensure effective risk mitigation and risk management
    • Coordinate elevated stakeholder involvement and strategic response efforts if projects go off track or new risks emerge

    • Construction Management:
    • Responsible for oversight and successful completion of facility construction - including collaboration with and management of architects, engineers, and other specialists
    • Manage vendors including - development of relationships with reliable contractors and vendors, leading the vendor selection process for facilities expansion projects, maintenance and updating of SOW and preconstruction documents, meeting contractual obligations, and managing vendor deadlines
    • Visit construction sites regularly to ensure timely completion of construction project tasks and milestones- including bid walks, preconstruction walks, in-progress visits, punch walks, and closeouts.
    • Lead and facilitate status and coordination meetings across all project staff and resources
    • Conduct and document quality assurance and safety inspections throughout the construction process, ensuring that the work environment is acceptable and that tools and equipment are in good working condition
    • Respond efficiently and effectively to work delays, emergencies, and other project disruptions

    • Expansion Projects:
    • Lead the planning, development, and implementation of programs and services pertaining to the growth of medical service capabilities, patient access, and financial sustainability
    • Responsible for overall quality management and results of key expansion projects
    • Oversee the budget, ensure financial accountability, and meet revenue and other financial goals of key expansion projects
    • Develop and implement strategic objectives and sound business practices for key expansion projects
    • Research and analyze emerging issues, market trends, and strategic opportunities in the healthcare industry, and prepare and present value recommendations to senior leadership
    • Develop project plans for successful implementation of assigned affiliate initiatives to include resource, cost, schedule, and staffing requirements; meeting, collaboration and communication structure, and clarity in project accountability, leadership and sponsorship
    • Provide timely and strategic project support to affiliate teams in order to achieve a high quality of service delivery to internal and external customers and to maximize the efficiency and economies of scale
    • Provide leadership, supervision, resources and guidance to project support staff to ensure effective coordination, communication and delivery on supported affiliate projects
    • Lead, organize and coordinate cross-functional teams to enhance communication, problem solving, sharing of resources in support of health operation, and departmental and affiliate goals
    • Collaborate with the Fundraising Department to ensure affiliate priorities and initiatives match funding opportunities being sought
    • Collaborate across multiple teams including center operations, medical services, finance, revenue cycle, marketing, development, public affairs, HR, compliance and legal
    • Work closely with affiliate leadership to prioritize and integrate initiative efforts into ongoing operation
    • Represent affiliate at meetings and conferences as needed
    • Other duties as assigned
We are looking for someone with the following:
    •  Education:
    • All academic backgrounds welcomed to apply

    • Experience:  
    • 5 years of progressive management experience in a healthcare setting
    • 3 years of program/project management experience, including large scale project oversight experience
    • Required experience in building and/or construction management and oversight
    • Experience developing collaborative relationships with administrators and medical care providers to deliver high-quality, cost-effective health services
    • Preferred experience with business/strategic analysis
    • Preferred experience managing multiple locations and programs

$120,000 - $130,000 a year
The hiring rate for this position is: $120k- $130k/year + Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Matching Program, Premium CALM account, holidays, paid time off, leadership coaching and more!
