DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL SERVICES
Siena House is a Tier II Family Shelter providing transitional housing for 27 women who are pregnant or with a child under the age of three. It is a not-for-profit, non denominational organization, funded by the NYC Department of Homeless Services, sponsored by the Tolentine Zeiser Community Life Center.
Located in the South Bronx, Siena House, which opened in 1990, offers shelter to young homeless pregnant women and women with children under 3 years old. Services are provided to assist them in acquiring and maintaining permanent housing and independent living.
Siena House provides a safe, clean environment for women and their children while giving them support and guidance. The shelter also provides Case Management Services, housing placement assistance, limited on-site child care, women's health workshops and creative workshops.
Siena House seeks to hire a Director of Social Services.
Full Job Description
The DSS will coordinate the program scope of services required by DHS.
Duties:
- Manage and monitor all aspects of program based on DHS contractual requirements
- Execute the implementation of required delivery of services to adult homeless families residing in the shelter.
- Coordinates the work of the Social Service team to ensure effective service delivery to clients. Schedules Inter-disciplinary teams at the site to optimize staff availability to clients and staff access to on site services.
- Reviews individual case files and social service plans on a monthly basis for quality assurance and efficacy.
- Conducts Resident meetings, when applicable, to keep residents abreast of developments.
- Ensures readiness for audits by DHS, OTDA and other Governmental agencies
- Conducts monthly social service staff meetings.
- Enforces Program Operations building protocol, ensure that incident reports are filled properly and on time with DHS and internal departments.
- Submits reports on a timely basis to all required parties.
- Attends all required trainings and meetings.
- Performs any other duties, as required by supervisor. Qualifications:
Education: LCSW with experience required or LMSW with experience in Supervision.
Experience: Relevant experience of five years or more with disenfranchised population, supervisory experience preferred.
Skills:
- Commitment to working with homeless families
- Computer literacy; Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish a plus.
