Director of Security
STATUS: EXEMPT, FULL TIME / BENEFITED, ON-SITE
SALARY RANGE: $130,000 - $140,000 plus benefits

PRIMARY ROLE:
The Director of Security at our high school is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive security programs and protocols to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors. This position requires a strong background in security management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE IN THIS POSITION WILL BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE:
- Security Strategy Development - Develop and implement a comprehensive security strategy aligned with the school's mission and values. - Conduct risk assessments and identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities. - Create policies and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure a safe environment.
- Security Operations - Oversee day-to-day security operations (24/7 operation), including access control (Brivo Software), surveillance systems, and emergency response procedures. Ensure that security is provided and scheduled for daily operations, large and small events both on campus and off campus, games and for fundraising opportunities. Manage the student drop off and pick up process, as well as the onboarding and offboarding of employees from related security systems and the DMV Pull Program. Create and maintain access control user accounts for over 400 faculty, staff, coaches and volunteers for mobile pass and/or keycard access. Troubleshoot and restore disruptions to the access control systems and contact integrator services for assistance when needed.
- Security Team Management - Recruit, train, and supervise agency (vendored) security personnel, including security guards and monitors. - Establish clear roles and responsibilities for security team members and ensure proper staffing levels. - Monitor performance and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
- Security Technology and Infrastructure - Manage and maintain security systems such as CCTV cameras, alarms, and access control systems. - Evaluate and recommend
upgrades or enhancements to security technology and infrastructure. - Ensure proper maintenance and functionality of all security equipment. • Security Compliance and Reporting - Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to school security. - Ensure compliance with security standards and requirements set by regulatory agencies. - Prepare and submit security reports as required by school administration or external authorities.
- Vendor Relations and Management - Negotiate and manage contracts with outside vendors for personnel and security-related services.
- Relevant Laws, Statutes and Codes - Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to school security. - Ensure compliance with security standards and requirements set by regulatory agencies. - Coordinate with law enforcement agencies and emergency services for rapid response and support. - Conduct regular security drills and training sessions for staff and students. - Prepare and submit security reports as required by school administration or external authorities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with people of various backgrounds, with an emphasis on strong communication skills that bridge cultural differences in order to effectively communicate school policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Proven experience in security management, preferably in an educational or institutional setting.
- Strong knowledge of Security technologies, emergency response protocols, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including administrators, teachers, parents, and law enforcement agencies.
- Certification in security management or related fields (e.g., Certified Protection Professional, Certified Security Management Professional) is a plus.
- Experience implementing and maintaining Brivo access control systems is preferred.
