Role: Sales Strategy Director 

Location: New York, Atlanta, Chicago, LA, Dallas, Denver 

THE OPPORTUNITY 

Currently, this role is responsible for leading a team who deliver accurate & innovative RFPs, that close business and drive revenue growth at MiQ. To do this, you will work closely with a range of functions from Sales, Product & Trading to understand MiQ's go to market approach to build winning RFP strategies that are at the heart of our business growth. 

However, this opportunity is greater than just the above. The Director of Sales Strategy position presents an exciting opportunity for a leader to build and develop an up-and-coming & crucial function within MiQ. There is huge scope for team growth and evolution. Reporting to and working closely with the VP of Sales Solutions, you will be responsible for taking Sales Strategy to new heights, co-developing and delivering on a revamped and reinvigorated vision for the team centered around growing product & trading expertise, creative & strategic thinking. 

The Director is responsible for creatively analyzing team performance to identify these areas of opportunity and improvement: ensuring the team is driving business growth both effectively and efficiently. This should be achieved using both quantitative and qualitative data, leveraging MiQ's business reporting tools as well as feedback obtained from cross functional feedback & relationships. 

The candidate should be a strategic thinker, excellent & proactive communicator, and comfortable sharing their own ideas and vision with senior leadership. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

You will partner with multiple team leads including programmatic trading, sales product and product marketing to drive sustainable results across the US.

Day-to-Day Tasks 

  • Manage and grow a team of Sales Strategists with varying degrees of work experience.
  • Build and re-evaluate systems and processes to manage the end-to-end client RFP process. 
  • Work with Snr Sales Strategists to deliver innovative and differentiated recommendations to our largest most strategic opportunities: approving the largest RFP opportunities before they are submitted to sales. 
  • Build the RFP strategy for new product & vertical releases, ensuring the creation of high-quality PPT deliverables that successfully showcase product expertise and strategic storytelling. 
  • Develop a deep understanding of MiQ's programmatic solutions across product, analytics and trading to ensure positioning and pricing are aligned with MiQ's go to market strategy. 

Innovation 

  • Strategize with Sales and Product leadership in pre-sale periods to grow and develop existing client business and win net new business. 
  • Build and evolve new strategies for optimizing and enhancing our national RFP process. 
  • Create a framework for what great looks like, updating team reporting accordingly: be focussed on turning insight into action. 
  • Constantly evaluate the team's impact, and find new ways the team can add value. 
  • Present data driven insights tied to new ideas and recommendations that will propel the team forward. Be able to balance big picture thinking with tactical delivery. 

Delivery 

  • Make timely decisions, setting clear direction, holding the team accountable to deliver a high volume of outcomes with high quality results. 
  • Prioritize, balancing what is important now, with both short- and long-term goals in mind. 
  • Provide trends on win rates and total revenue booked from Sales Strategy RFPs: identify what is and isn't working and why. 
  • Provide a quarterly business update to GTM and Sales Leads addressing where the team has delivered impact, and key areas of focus. 

Coach & Develop 

  • Develop personal and team OKRs that balance ambition and reality. 
  • Work to remove barriers and allow guided autonomy for your team. 
  • Grow a team of product experts, who are not only an asset to the sales team, but are independent thinkers, comfortable taking risks, making decisions for themselves, and providing proactive, strategic recommendations. 
  • Continue to develop and evaluate the different roles on the team, establishing what growth can & should look like, both within the team and wider company. 

Persuading and Influencing 

  • Comfortable building cross-functional relationships and pitching your ideas at the leadership level.
  • Provide data driven recommendations that are well considered tied to business objectives. 
  • Engage key stakeholders to achieve goals, while building internal and external network. 
  • Ensure that new products and tactics are being pitched and adoption is increasing. 
  • Support the team when they need to say 'no' to taking on more RFPs, and lead by example to communicate with empathy and fairness. 

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 8+ years of advertising technology and/or media planning experience. 
  • 3-5 years of experience leading a team as an exceptional people manager. 
  • Keen understanding of the pre-sales RFP process. 
  • Experience leading multi-regional teams is a plus! 
  • In depth understanding of the ad tech and performance advertising landscape. 
  • A+ presentation skills with the ability to turn data points into a compelling media story. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate, engage and influence effectively at all levels. 
  • Ability to take abstract ideas and translate them into actionable solutions. 
  • A winning mentality, with a strife for excellence, with acute attention to detail. 
  • Strong relationship skills, high EQ, and a long term, partnership-oriented mindset. 
  • Involvement in a high energy work environment with ability to deliver on tight deadlines.
