Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley is looking for aDirector of Sales and Marketing who shares a passion for excellence and who infuses enthusiasm into everything they do. We are looking for individuals who are strategic, proactive and who have a proven track record in both sales and marketing. Applicants need to evidence strong revenue and budget management skills, have a creative flair for marketing, have good communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate effective leadership.
The Director of Sales and Marketing is a part of the Resort Leadership team that is collectively responsible for making key strategic and operational decisions for the Resort. This leadership role focuses on all sales, marketing and product development activities to ensure strategies yield maximum revenue for rooms, F&B, Spa and other revenue streams and support brand clarity (DNA) throughout the hotel. The Director oversees: sales, marketing, catering/conference services and public relations for the Resort and ensures that all activities and bookings are focused to yield maximum revenue per room occupied.
Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Annual Marketing Plan and budget process.
  • Analyze the property's capabilities and identify the direct sales, advertising, and public relations programs necessary to attract targeted sources of business.
  • Develop marketing programs consistent with Four Seasons style and positioning, ensuring compliance with brand policies and guidelines.
  • Lead and grow market share - Review and monitor competitive hotels to ensure product and service offerings position property for competitive advantage.
  • Keep abreast of market trends and respond as needed. Support the development of product and services to address changing competitive environments.
  • Build, lead, coach, train and develop a strong team, incorporating existing talent and recruiting new team members where necessary.
  • Effective leadership capabilities. Team player; ability to forge solid working relationships with peers, agencies and property-based personnel.
  • Build trust and confidence with stakeholders: Ownership, Home Office (Area or Regional DOHM, Marketing Leadership Team, RVP), PC and hotel team.
  • Actively participate in regular General Manager and Planning Committee meetings to drive hotel revenue generating plans. Engage in all forecast meetings and ensure effective communication with all sales support system (such as corporate marketing and worldwide sales offices).
  • Disseminate information to team to include: sales activities, special bookings, business forecasts, competition, market trends and projections.
  • Ability to think critically and evaluate best possible solutions, resources and procedures to implement priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, take initiative and demonstrate solid judgment.
  • Understand the different needs of market segments and implement strategies/programs as appropriate to maximize revenue generation and profitability.
  • Well organized, able to set priorities, assess / measures results; and be detailed oriented. Ability to multitask; solution oriented; ability to assess situations and exercise good judgement.
  • Manage hotel presence and content across all communication channels, both brand and third-party platforms. In conjunction with Hotel Marketing / MarCom.
  • Understand the difference between marketing initiatives and an integrated marketing campaign as well as when to execute which with a focus on measurement via KPIs / ROI
  • Manage SEO, PPC, direct marketing, partnership and other advertising budgets and opportunities.
  • Revenue Management Accountability - Performance against overall revenue goals as described by RevPAR Index, revenue performance to Budget, and RM Scorecard metrics monitoring daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • Develop Public Relations Strategy and oversee updates and execution in conjunction with PRD; agency or corporate PR support.
  • Craft Social Media strategy and distribution outlets with PR Agency.
  • Establish goals and monitor performance to meet property revenue objectives. Review the performance of each sales person and approve quarterly and annual incentive results.

Who You Are
  • Bachelor degree; preferred Sales, Marketing or Hospitality emphasis important.
  • 4+ Years previous experience as a Director of Sales or Marketing at a luxury hotel/resort.
  • Outstanding resource and budget management skills.
  • Strong overall business knowledge - Combination of strategic thinking and strong tactical execution.
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills.
  • Effective leader of a team.
  • Must be flexible with schedule - Able to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, evening/overnight shifts. This position is on-site and requires travelling.
