POSITION OVERVIEW:
As the Director of Quality, you will play a critical role in ensuring the overall quality and compliance of our manufacturing processes and products. You will be responsible for developing and implementing quality assurance strategies, policies, and procedures to drive continuous improvement and maintain compliance. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement comprehensive quality assurance improvements to ensure product quality meets or exceeds customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and mentor our quality team, providing guidance, training, and support to drive a culture of Quality excellence.
- Establish quality metrics, KPIs, and performance indicators to monitor and evaluate manufacturing processes and product quality.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, supply chain, and other departments to identify and resolve quality issues and drive process improvements.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure quality standards are met throughout the supply chain.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and implementation of Quality management systems.
- Prepare and present quality reports and updates to senior management, highlighting key performance metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.
- Review warranty and repair claims, and work collaboratively across the organization to determine a resolution.
COMPETENCIES: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Proven track record of developing and implementing quality assurance programs and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of Quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing) and regulatory requirements (e.g., CE, EN 1090).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in managing teams and driving change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of product development processes and contributing to them in a quality role is a plus.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality assurance or quality management roles within a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Expertise applying problem-solving tools such as 5-Whys and 8D.
- Experience implementing and using SPC and PPAP
- Certification in quality management (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt) is desirable.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Proficient with MS Office suite
- Open to occasional, short duration travel
