Description
Summary: The Director of Quality, Patient Safety, & Patient Experience plays an important role in ensuring the highest standards of healthcare delivery, safety, and Patient Experience with responsibility for the hospital and health centers and is a liaison to Birch Bay Retirement Village for Quality Assurance and Process Improvement (QAPI) goals. The director will foster cross-functional and system-wide relationships beyond the department to be successful in a highly multidisciplinary and complex role. Using evidence based practices, national quality standards and research the Director of Quality, Patient Safety, and Experience will lead teams to advance operational and strategic initiatives with internal partnership and through external partnership such as Leapfrog, NCQA, QHIP and the affiliated Accountable Care Organization (ACO) - Community Care Partnership of Maine (CCPM). The Director oversees and processes overall quality improvement activities, safety initiatives, and Patient Experience activities that produce effective and efficient outcomes for our patients. Develops and maintains quality programs that review and focus on patient care outcomes, works directly with the medical practitioner leader of the ACO on quality measures and initiatives. Oversees quality, safety, and experience in all areas of the organization, outpatient, inpatient and ancillary units. Coordinates with Senior Leaders on the monthly Board Quality and Safety meeting and the annual organization wide Quality retreat. Oversees and leads the efforts of the quality coordinators for inpatient and outpatient initiatives.

Requirements
Education, Training or Certifications Required:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Public Health.
2. Masters in Nursing or Public Health preferred .
3. Project Management and/or Process Improvement Experience preferred.
4. Certification in Patient Safety Officer (CPSO), Professional Health Care Quality (CPHQ), and/or Patient Experience Professional (CPXP) preferred.
Experience Required:
1. Demonstrated leadership and management abilities in building teams and fostering quality, safety, and experience initiatives.
2. Five to seven years related experience, preferably in healthcare.
Special Requirements:
1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential.
2. Possess mid level computer skills with competence in Excel, Word, & PowerPoint
3. Ability to cope effectively and to help others cope with stress.
Cognitive Requirements:
1. Ability to prioritize workload and follow through on assignments.
2. Ability to process complex information and communicate the same in a useful and understandable manner.
3. Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
4. Ability to evaluate effectiveness/appropriateness of services, including resource utilization and allocation.
5. Ability to react and adapt to changes in healthcare environment.
Physical Demands:
1. General health must be such as to regularly work full time.
2. Potential for long periods of sitting.
3. Adequate hearing, vision, speech and manual dexterity.
Environment:
1. Requires use of telephone and computer.
2. Minimum potential for exposure to infectious diseases, blood or body fluids.
3. Potential for periods of high stress.
4. May spend up to 60% of time in meetings.
