NeighborWorks Umpqua (NWU) is a rural focused community development corporation working in Southern Oregon (in Douglas, Coos, Curry, and Josephine Counties). We work to promote opportunity for all by developing, owning, and providing access to quality housing that is affordable, increasing access to capital to build household wealth and assets and expand homeownership, improve financial resilience, and support community-based economic development efforts

NWU was founded over 30 years ago to develop quality affordable rental housing in response to a market that was not producing housing the community needed. Over the years, we have continued to develop housing, expanding into areas of community development in response to gaps in the market. Our success comes from maintaining a work culture that is cultivated by our teams through collaboration, empowerment, and continual growth. 

If you would like to work for an organization that focuses on supporting healthy communities, we are looking for a Director of Program & Services that will be responsible for the strategic direction and development of the Program & Services department.

The Director of Program & Services ensure services across programs and sites are delivered in alignment with NeighborWorks Umpquas core values and vision. Oversee program implementation and support, and evaluation; supervise and train our incoming Program & Services team.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting and data collection for all programs and services.
  • Provide supervision and guidance for program team members and coordinate program planning and implementation activities across NWU program and service.
  • Ensure adequate documentation of services provided and collaborate with Director of Impact for program data collection.
  • Collaborate with Resource Development to respond to strategic funding opportunities and reporting project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Finance Department to ensure balance program budgets, appropriate program expenditures. Support the annual budget development process.
  • Attend regular leadership team meetings. Model and practice NWU Values and Vision. Lead efforts to modify and institutionalize changes in core standards and program practices in alignment with the organization's strategic plan.
  • Contribute to monthly Board of Directors meetings through program update reports.
  • Continually assess and implement improvements in organizational policies and practices including enhancing program structures, guiding and planning staff training, tracking performance evaluations, and any other program policies and practices.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and implementation, assess service delivery models and provide research recommendations for strategic initiatives.
  • Support the professional development goals of direct service staff members. Identify external opportunities for staff development and staff leadership.
  • Nurture strategic partnership that expands resources and capacity to serve NWU clients.
  • Support NWU's positive image in the communities we serve.
  • Foster NWU's relationship with federal, State, City and private funders.
  • In collaboration with other departments, manage reporting requirements to ensure accurate and timely program and financial reports to funders and partners.
  •  Other duties as asigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Ability to successfully develop and evaluate program models, and selecting and successfully operationalizing innovative programs.
  • Proficient in using technology as a management reporting tool.
  • Strong project management skills managing complex, multifaceted projects resulting in measurable success and program growth.
  • Experience having worked with a high-performance, collaborative, constructive peer group.
  • Demonstrated results in managing through complex systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for NWU's mission.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years experience with 2 of those in a team management role.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include those required for reading, writing, and typing. This position will be working primarily indoors and some of the time in an outdoor environment for events or clean up. From this movement, the employee will encounter varying temperatures. The noise level is low in the office environment.
