POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the overall management, operation and strategic direction of FHC pharmacies, and serves as Pharmacist-in-Charge. Performs staff pharmacist duties a minimum 50% of time. Reports to Chief Financial Officer, and works closely with Operations and Finance Officers as well as other Directors and Managers at FHC.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees and adjusts all workflow, space and systems processes as needed to meet operational requirements.
  • Monitors, analyzes and reports on established performance metrics on a regular basis.
  • Works closely with Operations and Finance Officers to ensure that all information systems are operational and accurate, which includes implementation of and transition to new systems and integration with existing system.
  • Provides regular consultation for patients and staff regarding medication and assures that all other dispensing pharmacists provide regular consultation for patients.
  • Actively participates as a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
  • Provide oversight of Medication Therapy Management program.
  • Oversees the work of all pharmacists and pharmacy technicians including recruiting, hiring, disciplinary action, scheduling, team building, performance evaluation, etc.
  • Assures that all pharmacy staff are appropriately trained to perform necessary functions.
  • Ensures compliance with all licensure and governing body requirements including but not limited to: Board of Pharmacy, Office of Pharmacy Affairs (including 340B Drug Pricing Program), and Drug Enforcement Agency.
  • Ensures compliance with all contractual requirements of payers including but not limited to: Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and all federal, state, and local government contracts.
  • Ensures compliance with wholesale purchasing agreement(s) and maintains close contact with vendor(s) for ordering, inventory and billing purposes.
  • Ensures that all licensed pharmacy staff meet all licensure requirements including continuing education and recertification.
  • Works with the Chief Medical Officer to develop and implement regular monitoring of quality indicators including but not limited to medication errors and client satisfaction.
  • Works closely with Finance and Operations officers, and other senior staff and outside consultants to develop and manage comprehensive business plan for the Pharmacies including analysis of potential business opportunities, anticipated margins, forecasts of future sales and performance metrics.
  • Works closely with Finance and Operations officers and other staff to maintain and develop all vendor and payer contracts.
  • Responsible for managing the operational budget of the pharmacies in conjunction with the Chief Finance Officer.
  • Performs staff pharmacist duties as required.
  • Participates in staff meetings, planning meetings and other meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an intermediate level of knowledge of using the internet, utilizing Excel spreadsheet software, and Microsoft Word software. Must have intermediate level of knowledge of utilizing Outlook software to manage schedules and communicate through the use of email to various recipients.

Other Qualifications

Must have adequate transportation to visit the five sites of the Family Health Center. Prefer bilingual speaking both English and Spanish.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

Bachelor of Pharmacy required, or Pharm. D. preferred from an accredited institution.

Current licensure including controlled substance license to practice pharmacy in Michigan.

A minimum of three years of relevant pharmacy leadership and management experience.

Background and knowledge of pharmaceutics and their drugs and interactions.

Familiarity with the 340b drug pricing program preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail, managerial and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicity, ages, and sexual orientation in a multicultural environment.
