About the Role:

The Director of Patient Access and Intake is directly responsible for the development, implementation, and overall operation of the Intake Nurse Coordinators, Insurance Benefits Coordinators, Patient Access Coordinators, and Home Intake teams. This position is responsible for implementing insurance verification/authorization best practices, and ensuring accurate co-payment information is communicated in a timely manner to patients. The Director works collaboratively as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, partnering with the leadership staff across Reimbursement, Pharmacy Services, Clinical Services and Patient Services to promote customer service, streamline process flow and process improvements, ensure operational integrity, and achieve best-in-class service standards.

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience/Education:

  • Associate Degree in a medical specialty -OR- equivalent work experience of 10 years
  • 5 years of leadership experience and 5 years of work related experience
  • Proficient at partner programs (i.e.: MS Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to cope with ambiguous, changing environment while under pressure in a calm
  • Must be able to work as a team member and develop productive and cooperative working relationships with all members of the Palmetto Infusion/AccuRX team.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for oversight of the daily operations regarding insurance benefits, patient assistance, patient account management, and case management, including but not limited to benefit verification, prior authorization, copay assistance, and communication of Patient financial responsibilities.
  • Develops, monitors, coaches, and manages staff, ensuring the continuous development of employees through orientation, training, establishing objectives, constructive feedback and corrective action.
  • Develops and monitors key quality and productivity metrics, creating a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Serves as a facilitator and intradepartmental team builder, primarily with Patient Services and Reimbursement teams.
  • Provides on-going, clear, measurable performance expectations, and feedback for staff. Effectively and consistently guides and counsels staff.
  • Understands coverage principles and requirements for denial letters for all payers.
  • Maintains knowledge and proficiency in medical practices through continuing education, staff meetings, workshops, and home study.
  • Supports the marketing efforts of Palmetto Infusion by assisting the Sales Team, providing educational programs to referral sources as requested.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement processes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk, and hear. There may be prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding in transport vehicles. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with patients, vendors, and staff.
