Director of Operations
Position Profile:
This position is primarily responsible for the effective and efficient integration of assembly and test functions required to produce products and achieve on-time customer deliveries and the objectives of the Marotta Controls Inc. Activities of this position are inclusive of, but not limited to the following areas; implementation/support of mfg. cells, production planning, utilization/planning of internal and subcontracted resources, continuous improvement, employee development/training and budget development/adherence. The incumbent must be a dynamic individual who can multi-task and oversee various activities associated with aerospace manufacturing. This position requires effective interaction with a broad spectrum of people both internal and external to the organization to successfully support operations and the corporate strategic vision.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • 10+ years of related experience in a mfg. operations environment (Aerospace preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related field. MBA or Masters Degree preferred
  • Self-motivated individual who possess the ability to analyze, organize, plan, prioritize assignments, multi-task and achieve results through the motivation/development of others
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and verbal/written communication skills required for interacting with all levels of personnel both internal and external to the organization
  • Ability to develop realistic/achievable action plans to support organizational objectives and strategies
  • Knowledgeable/familiarity in the areas of Lean/Cellular Manufacturing concepts, HS&E state and federal regulations (i.e. OSHA, EPA, DEP, etc.), employee training, operation and training procedures/policies, capacity/production planning, continuous improvement methodologies, calibration requirements, root cause investigations, risk assessment, trouble shooting, performance metrics, budget development and mfg. operational activities
  • Ability to provide employee training and development (inclusive of Succession Planning) in an effective manner
  • Must be computer literate. Demonstrate proficiency using word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and applicable mfg. software (at a minimum)

EFFORT:
  • Ensure that activities related to operations are executed and documented in a manner which is compliant to corporate and regulatory requirements. Various initiatives and activities shall be brought to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals both internal and external to the Marotta organization (as required).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to various regulatory and internal system requirements
  • Support the master production schedule to consistently achieve desired production efficiencies/costs and on-time customer shipments
  • Interact cooperatively with internal support organizations to ensure product design, quality and delivery schedules meet customer specifications and expectations
  • Develop and ensure adherence to established budgets to support action plans and strategies related to production and operational requirements.
  • Direct the implementation/execution of mfg. cells, policies, practices and performance metrics throughout operations to ensure overall effectiveness and objectives are achieved
  • Foster a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication. Communicate exceptions to established/agreed upon schedules to all affected parties internal to the Marotta Organization
  • Develop a succession plan for key/high potential personnel to assure uninterrupted services and sustain operational efficiencies to support the goals and objective of Operations
  • Generate budgets, action plans and strategies to support and accommodate changes required by the Marotta organization
  • Identify, define and support intra/inter departmental continuous improvement activities/initiatives to successfully support operations and the corporate strategic vision
  • Develop, maintain and optimize the required support systems (computer/personnel) to assure on-time deliveries
  • Effective implementation of controls (ex. Labor tracking) required for capacity planning and production planning for both discrete and repetitive product manufacturing (as applicable)
  • Actively participates (as req’d.) in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. to provide constructive recommendations and initiate actions to support company initiatives/goals
Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
  • This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
  • Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.

Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel
  • The employee is frequently required to sit at length, stand, walk, and move about the facility.
  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 20 pounds
This position is at our Montville, NJ office location.
