Houston Director of Operations
Base Compensation: starting salary of $106,000-$135,000/yr+ profit sharing bonuses (estimated $0-$10,000 annually)
Location: South Houston, TX.
Lead and manage an important and strategic business unit for a 110+ years privately held family business. Huyett is a manufacturer and master distributor of industrial fasteners and is looking for a charismatic operations leader, for a newly-acquired regional headquarters in Houston. This operation is a vital and strategic part of an aggressive go-to-market strategy encompassing e-commerce fulfillment; local Will Call and supply chain support; and the start-up of manufacturing operations. This opportunity will require full-time presence at the company headquarters in north-central Kansas for the first ninety days of employment for extensive training and on-boarding. Following this start-up phase, travel outside of Houston will be minimal. We offer these benefits:

Key responsibilities include:
- Evangelizing and stewardship of the Huyett Culture of Excellence through 26 behavioral fundamentals and a corporate Code of Conduct.
- Selection, coaching, mentoring and development of a management team encompassing 4-6 direct reports and a total headcount of forty persons, which is expected to double within two years.
- Accurate, complete, and timely receiving, packaging, order fulfillment, and inventory control.
- Facilities, Quality, and Safety accountability for ISO-9001-2015 standards and greater
- Effective project management in matters of workflow and process improvement, and the successful integration of data analytics and process audits.
- Future development of robotic warehouse order management systems and the addition of contract machining.
- Coaching and mentoring of managerial direct reports, supervisors and leads, and support of the performance management system.
Desired Qualifications:
- Value system aligned to the Huyett Culture of Excellence with a servant leadership approach.
- Proven experience as a successful leader within prior distribution or manufacturing operations, preferably with at least two layers of supervision or more.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem resolution skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow up with stakeholders on completion of tasks.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing conditions and/or environment.
- Previous experience working in a high-performance team setting.
- Ability to operate powered equipment or attain license. (Forklift, Reach Truck, etc.)
- Experience with LEAN practices / methodologies.
- Evidence of successful change management in career body of work.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely maneuver a pushcart.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift 20-30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment: This is a warehousing plant environment. Exposure to high temperatures, moving machinery, moving equipment, heights, and confined spaces.
