WORK YEAR: 12 months
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Principal, the Director of Nursing provides quality assurance and educational coordination for the medical arts training programs of Beaumont Adult School.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the philosophy of the Medical Arts Program and Beaumont Adult School; E
- Ensures that state and Council on Occupational Education (COE) required medical arts program documentation is current and complete; E
- Ensures all guidelines set forth in Title 16 and 22 for accreditation are followed; E
- Develops and/or reviews policies and procedures for courses at least once a year; E
- Ensures curriculum objectives and course content are conducted, based on outline and instructional plan; E
- Ensures faculty remains current on curriculum and clinical skills; E
- Assists in the selection of instructors;
- Assists the Principal of Adult Education in the evaluation of instructors in the classroom and clinical setting at least once a year;
- Designs and implements evaluation methodology for clinical facilities and student progress; E
- Screens and selects students based on criteria;
- Ensures student admission criteria is completed;
- Ensures the number of students in clinical and theory settings does not exceed number approved by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT); E
- Conducts regular needs assessment of the community and develop additional medical arts training as the needs dictate (i.e., CEU classes, EMT, CNA, LVN, HHA, PHA, MA, PA); E
- Secures additional funding to support and expand the medical arts program;
- Adheres to and implements the certificated and classified bargaining agreements;
- Performs job assignment safely for the purpose of protecting people and property; E
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN);
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing, preferred.
Experience:
- One (1) year of teaching or clinical supervision experience in an accredited/approved vocational/practical nursing program or registered nursing program over the last five years;
- Three (3) years of professional experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) over the last five years.
Licenses, Certifications, and Testing:
- Must meet the BVNPT requirements for Director of Vocational Nursing, which include but are not limited to:
- Hold a current California active license as a Registered Nurse (RN);
- Completed a course or courses with instruction in administration, teaching, and curriculum development.
Knowledge and Skills of:
- Strong working knowledge of Nursing procedures and practices;
- Knowledge of state laws, Education Code, school district, and business procedures and policies;
- Standard office equipment and computer applications including Microsoft Office and Google Drive environments, with expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe;
- Modern office methods, procedures, and equipment, including record-keeping principles, methods and procedures, electronic filing systems archiving for records, letter and report writing.

- Compile and maintain accurate records and files;
- Analyze situations, identify needs, prioritize, solve problems independently, as appropriate, and take appropriate action in a variety of procedural matters, without immediate supervision;
- Read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to public education, and specific to Beaumont Unified School District; and apply them with good judgment in a variety of situations;
