DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS
JOB DESCRIPTION
Marist High School is currently seeking a full-time Director of Marketing and Communications. Reporting directly to the President and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the Director is responsible for establishing and implementing the school's annual and long-range communications strategies in line with the school's mission, values, and brand, delivering on them through internal and external communications. Building brand loyalty, creating a consistent voice, creating effective materials, managing external communications, and expanding awareness and community engagement are central to this position's success. The director works in close partnership with Marist Administration, Admissions, Advancement and Athletics to develop strategy and oversee execution of Marketing efforts to help tell the story of Marist High School, attract highly talented students, generate revenue from fundraising efforts through alumni and donors, and capitalize on marketing opportunities.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serves as the lead Marketing and Communications executive, maintaining and strengthening the Marist school brand and articulating the school's vision and image across all media to ensure a
consistent, positive brand and message of excellence; provide guidelines on the use of the Marist logo across all communications (marketing channels, branded merchandise and signage).
2. Work in partnership with Admissions, Advancement, Athletics and Executive Teams to develop and implement the school's annual marketing communications plans and strategies to convey key
messages to a variety of constituency groups (including current and prospective students and parents, alumni and donors), utilizing the full range of Marketing communication channels (web,
email, e-newsletters, marketing automation, direct mail, social media, digital, video, advertising, PR) to achieve the school's growth objectives.
3. Direct staff of internal and external marketing resources including department content contributors, outside copywriters, designers, printers, digital marketing agencies and other vendors on the
execution of Marketing plans across all communication channels.
4. Develop and manage the school's content marketing calendar, mapping marketing plans over to a calendar to make tactics tangible, visible and accounted for; and to ensure all key areas of Marist are
represented in communications throughout the year.
5. Expand Marist's digital presence (website, content, email marketing, social media, paid advertising) using optimization tools to reach, inform, engage, and convert constituents; stay current on new
technologies to incorporate into marketing strategies; use CRM and web analytics to track and report on campaign performance, consumer insights and inform future marketing decisions.
6. Direct photography and digital/video content for major school events, publications, social media, as
well as stock photography use.
7. Develop the annual Marketing and Communications budget, maintain routine budget checks and balances, and account for variances.
PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL SKILLS
• A seasoned and dynamic senior marketing leader that can develop and execute a clearly defined Marketing and Communications strategy, initiatives, activities and related functions to enhance
Marist's brand equity, increase brand awareness, drive enrollment and revenue for Marist and support the school's growth objectives.
• Can build processes, establish cross-functional relationships and work seamlessly across other groups in the organization (i.e., admissions, advancement, athletics, IT, and finance), share best practices, and benefit from the output of these other groups while contributing to the groups' effectiveness and success at the same time.
• Comfortable with managing and executing the full portfolio of integrated marketing programs and tools, including: web site strategy execution, content planning and production, demand and lead
generation activities, HubSpot automation, PR/social media, SEO/SEM campaigns, and events planning and execution (webinars, speaking engagements, etc.).
• Can demonstrate marketing's impact on the business, validating the ROI of every dollar to peer groups in the organization and becoming a strategic driver of the business.
• Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interact with all diverse constituent bodies of the school as an ambassador.
• Budget responsibility: takes control of / is accountable for available designated assets.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of Bachelors' degree in marketing, communications, business admin or related field.
• 6-10 years in a marketing communications role in a for-profit or non-for-profit organization.
• Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail and time management
• Experience with strategic management of a brand and its voice through diverse media to generate results.
• Experience in managing operating budgets.
• Working knowledge of content management systems (CMS)
• Experience with marketing automation software required; familiarity with HubSpot a plus.
