Location: Dallas, Texas (relocation assistance will be provided, if needed). This is an on-site role, a remote/hybrid schedule is not available for this position.

Cleaver-Brooks Sales & Service (CBSS) has an outstanding opportunity for a Human Resources Director at the business unit headquarters in Dallas, Texas, reporting directly to Vice President of Human Resources for Cleaver-Brooks. The HR Director is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior leadership in supporting designated business initiatives. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: performance management, employee relations, investigations, recruiting, and training and development. This is a highly visible, high impact position where a successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the future success and growth of the organization. Must be someone willing and able to directly engage in tactical execution while simultaneously leading teams to their goals.

This leader will drive a culture of continuous improvement and support that culture throughout the organization, providing assistance and direction as required to improve effectiveness and overall performance. This individual must be personable, dynamic, and innovative, and someone who deploys an energetic day-to-day roll-up-your-sleeves attitude. The ideal candidate must have the following:

  • Progressive HR leadership experience within an industrial service/projects, heavy equipment and/or general commercial construction industry (+$100M revenue).
  • Experience managing teams within a multi-site, multi-state organizational structure.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% to the company locations throughout Texas and Midwest. Occasional travel to the company headquarters and other manufacturing locations may be required.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the Human Resources team, and work very closely with the safety and training teams, ensuring accountability, performance and development.
  • Participates in the execution of day-to-day HR operations supporting employees and managers.
  • Ensures proper administration of all HR-related policies, procedures, systems, and processes.
  • Interpret HR policies and employment law for employees and managers, and coach them to ensure consistency, effectiveness, and compliance.
  • Support management by providing Human Resources advice, counsel, and decisions.
  • Ensures continuous compliance according to local, state, and federal employment legislation and regulations.
  • Conducts investigations relating to employee relations and handles open door complaints, as appropriate.
  • Assists with assigned areas of organization development and performance management including coaching employees and managers to increase effectiveness/results of the performance management and goals alignment processes.
  • Participates in developing and helping to align department goals and objectives.
  • Administers, directs and manages a company-wide process of organization development that addresses issues such as succession planning, superior workforce development, key employee retention, organization design, and change management.
  • Development of a comprehensive talent strategy that is closely aligned and strongly integrated with the business strategy, ensuring that the company is making the right talent decisions ensuring the right talent is available to achieve company goals today and tomorrow.
  • Partner with leaders to build high performing leadership teams and to create an environment which is clear on performance management.
  • Utilize business and financial acumen to drive operational excellence by combining progressive and innovative ideas with HR best practices to support achievement of the company's strategic vision and goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have completed a Bachelor’s degree program in Human Resources or a closely related field required. A Master’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Must have 3 to 5+ years progressive leadership experience in Human Resources within a medium sized industrial service/projects, heavy equipment and/or general commercial construction industry (+$100M revenue).
  • A track record of success working and influencing a fast-paced entrepreneurial organization.
  • Experience with a distributed workforce across many locations.
  • HR experience in a best practice HR function combined with experience at mid-size company, so they are experienced with being creative in a growing, dynamic company.
  • Strengths in talent acquisition/development, ability to drive the corporate strategy, as well as the ability to recruit directly.
  • Background overseeing benefits administration, compensation practices and employee relations.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and strong HRIS/HCM experience (UKG Pro preferred).
  • Able to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders and able to exhibit self-awareness, self-regulation, and empathy when appropriate.
  • Able and willing to face challenges with energy and composure while producing results and effectively managing conflict.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and projects effectively, with excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills to accomplish desired results.
  • Strong analytical skills, demonstrating an ability to capture, analyze and interpret large amounts of HR-related data.
  • Ability to lead and foster a transformational change within an organization and drive a culture of accountability.
  • Capable of maintaining confidential information and providing requested information to support functions on a need-to-know basis.
  • Able to make decisions under tight deadlines, occasionally in the face of incomplete information.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable employment law.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts in a high-stakes environment.
