Director of Shelter Facility Operations
Housing Matters partners with individuals and families to create pathways out of their homelessness into permanent housing. Working under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer the Director of Shelter Facility Operations supports the mission of Housing Matters by overseeing and leading the overall maintenance of the buildings, grounds, fixtures and equipment of the Coral Street campus facility. The campus includes a low barrier 57 bed emergency shelter consisting of a dorm setting and individual pallet shelters, the Rebele Family Shelter which is a 3 story low-barrier, 28 bed emergency shelter for individuals and their minor child(ren), a hygiene bay, offices, meeting areas, and 2 kitchens. Areas of responsibility may include the following areas/departments: maintenance/custodial, fleet management, kitchen, and health & safety.
Hours and Benefits
- The Director of Shelter Facility Operations is a full-time, exempt position, eligible for medical, dental, vision, 403b, and our generous PTO plan.

Band 5: Directors
$87,346 $91,714 $96,299 $101,114 $106,170 $111,478
Director of Shelter Facility Operations Starting Wage (DOE):
$87,346 $91,714
Preferred Experience/ Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of five years in a management position that includes responsibility for facilities management
- Administrative or project management experience within a non-profit organization preferred
- Previous experience in a shelter, commercial, clinical or healthcare environment preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Principles and techniques of management and training
- Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Knowledge of:
- Proposal and bid processes
- Budgeting, planning, project management
- Building and property maintenance, renovations, refurbishments and inspections
- OSHA compliance; environment, health and safety.
