Job description

Position Summary: The Director of Events will specialize in the organization and management of lacrosse tournaments and showcases targeted at youth and high school athletes. This role is pivotal in providing high-quality, competitive, and exposure opportunities for participants. The Director will oversee all aspects of event planning, execution, and post-event analysis, ensuring each tournament and showcase meets the highest standards of excellence and serves the needs of athletes, coaches, and the lacrosse community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Event Planning and Execution:
  • Lead the planning and execution of lacrosse tournaments and showcases, ensuring a seamless experience for teams, athletes, coaches, and spectators.
  • Coordinate all logistical aspects of Events, including venue selection, scheduling, bracketing, and compliance with lacrosse governing bodies.
  • Implement effective registration processes and manage communication with participating teams to provide clear information regarding event details.
  • Quality Control and Standards:
  • Ensure that all events are conducted in accordance with the highest standards, emphasizing safety, fairness, and competitive integrity.
  • Develop criteria and processes for team and athlete eligibility, ensuring events cater to the appropriate skill levels and age groups.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Satisfaction:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for coaches, teams, and parents, addressing any concerns and ensuring a positive experience.
  • Build and maintain relationships with lacrosse organizations, schools, clubs, and other key stakeholders to promote event participation and support.
  • Marketing and Promotion:
  • Develop marketing strategies to enhance the visibility and attractiveness of lacrosse tournaments and showcases, leveraging social media, email marketing, and partnerships.
  • Work with sponsors and vendors to enhance the event experience and secure financial or in-kind support.
  • Operational and Financial Management:
  • Create and manage event budgets, ensuring financial viability and efficiency.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and management of event staff and volunteers to support operational needs.
  • Evaluation and Growth:
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback and assess performance against objectives.
  • Use insights from events to drive improvements, innovate event offerings, and support the growth of youth and high school lacrosse.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Event Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience in organizing and managing sports events, with a preference for experience in lacrosse or similar team sports.
  • Deep understanding of the lacrosse community, including youth and high school competitive landscapes.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, as events dictate.
  • Proficiency in event management software and social media platforms.
