Director of Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO)

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Accountable for the implementation and administration of the end-to-end portfolio governance, oversight, and reporting in alignment with the bank's strategic goals and objects, including integration with the annual planning and budgeting processes.
The responsibilities include the oversight and governance of all projects and programs in the Technology, non-Technology and the digital strategic transformation portfolios across all US entities, and reporting portfolio performance, risks and issues to both First- and Second-Line Executive forums.
Accountable for organization-wide education of EPMO policies, procedures and standards and consistent application across the entire portfolio of projects; engages regularly within all levels of leaders on strategic delivery and portfolio governance performance.
Essential Functions/Responsibility Statements:

  • Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for the Enterprise Program Management Office that aligns with Santander US goals and objectives.
  • Provide oversight for the planning, funding, and resourcing of the project portfolio (Book of Work), supporting Santander's vision across all US subsidiaries.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers and senior leaders across the bank and its subsidiaries to prioritize strategic initiatives, develop business cases, and allocate resources.
  • Author, own, and update the standard and processes to oversee the project management function.
  • Ensure the project portfolio uses a disciplined, well-managed, and consistent approach that promotes successful delivery.
  • Communicate the standard and processes to all stakeholders and oversee and monitor implementation and compliance with the standard.
  • Maintain and evolve the Program Management methodology that includes governance, risk management, and project delivery (Agile and Waterfall)
  • Ensure compliance with SDLC policies and procedures required to deliver technology solutions.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and support to the project management community in the application of project management practices.
  • Establish metrics and reporting mechanisms to measure the success of initiatives and communicate progress to executive forums.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by analyzing and refining Program Management processes and procedures.
  • Provide direction to the subsidiaries for adherence to the standard structure and review any requested exceptions.
  • Review project information across portfolios and provide feedback to Portfolio Managers to support their governance role.
  • Manage exams and submit responses to regulatory requests on the SDLC and project management functions.
  • Facilitate the flow of information to Executive Management on a regular basis.

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
Work Experience: 9-12 years; Program management experience, including customer interface with a track record of delivering successful results.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Banking experience as well as working with regulators is a critical requirement for this position.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Program Management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Experience managing large-scale, complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong trusted relationships and foster collaboration and teamwork in a variety of settings.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at using influence persuasion and negotiation to find agreeable exchange and reach positive outcomes.
  • Master of complex facilitation and dependency management techniques (cross team, cross department).
  • Ability to demonstrate and apply sensitivity to enterprise and bank points of view as well as understanding similarities and differences to create a balanced approach.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions: Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing, and walking. Occasional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown. Physically capable of lifting to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.
