Job Summary
This is a professional position responsible for the creative development and delivery of Enrollment related Communications and Marketing through coordinated, planned and data driven practices. This individual is primarily responsible for all undergraduate enrollment related Communications and Marketing materials, intended on driving increased undergraduate enrollments, while ensuring that they are within the University's brand guidelines.
Job Description
Director of Enrollment Communications and Marketing is a critical part of CSU's Enrollment Management Division creating and overseeing recruitment, admission and financial aid communications, running social media platforms, developing content for a variety of channels, supporting graphic design projects, tracking trends, and managing administrative tasks. They are charged with determining key messages for recruitment-related materials and then creating those materials which will be used to represent Chicago State University at community events, community colleges, university programs. The position will be assisting with the planning and implementation of university programs. They will actively market and promote relationship-building activities through electronic correspondence and recruiting events.
The role is responsible for the successful utilization of a CRM. The role will work closely within Enrollment Management and with Marketing, External Affairs and other campus partners to align and maximize the university brand, visual identity and Marketing messages in an effort to increase undergraduate enrollments. This includes all duties related to creative development and direction of undergraduate recruitment related Communications and Marketing collateral, and advising campus partners on best practices regarding enrollment related communications. The position will also serve as a resource and point person for day-to day operations of the CRM solution.
The ideal candidate will be creatively oriented collaborator, pay strict attention to detail and have strong analytical thinking skills.
Duties include:
  • Write copy, copy edit, and proof recruitment, admissions and financial aid related communications, publications and social media emails, website, and other projects
  • Support graphic design needs including print, digital and social media
  • Administer admissions and enrollment management social media accounts
  • Maintain a clear and consistent brand voice; ensure copy is consistent in style across all executions and aligned with brand standards and product strategies
  • Track marketing trends and analyze communication and Marketing data on key performance indicators
  • Manage internal enrollment management communication tools, including listservs
  • Coordinate with departments across the university, inventorying stock, and place orders insuring availability of promotional materials
  • Identify CRM application related problems and work with the Information Technology team to resolve issues
  • Establish and maintain analytics for demonstrating ROI in the utilized CRM
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on creating reports and dashboards to track ROI of various recruitment and admission initiatives
  • Support ad-hoc requests for data, reports and analysis of Enrollment Communications from individual program directors
  • Develop email communication plans for successful enrollment of undergraduate programs in coordination with Enrollment Management, Academic Affairs and other campus partners.
  • Deliver enrollment communication professional development workshops and create training materials.
  • Work with all levels of management to ensure key CRM functionalities are understood
  • Lead iterative needs-assessment with key stakeholders to determine how the CRM can optimize their workflow.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, radio/television broadcasting, web/digital media, or a related field.
  2. One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in public relations, journalism, social media communications, newspaper reporting, radio/television broadcasting with emphasis on production, or web/digital media.
  3. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.

Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree or 3-5 years of experience is preferred.
  • Experience with a CRM, especially at an Administrator, Architect or Developer level.
  • Experience creating social media campaigns and analyzing engagement.
  • Project management experience.
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong knowledge of Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities with ability to think big picture while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
  • Results-oriented and proactive self-starter; strong sense of pace and urgency.
  • Must be an outstanding communicator and be comfortable interacting with a diverse group of technical and non-technical people including faculty, program directors and program recruiters.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Hands on experience developing or creating digital Communications and Marketing/promotional materials on different platforms for recruitment purposes.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing a customer relations management software application
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong analytical background
  • Must possess a passion for education and the ability to inspire prospective students similar to the current CSU student population
  • Must be able to be a self-starter and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding communication and listening skills - both written and verbal
  • Ability to analyze complex information and exercise sound judgement in making decisions
  • Ability to set priorities and complete assignments and tasks on time
  • Ability to operate personal computer with general understanding of application software and understanding of the internet and use of social media.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Suite of products
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, evenings and weekends to accommodate students or departmental needs. This may include working more than 40 hours a week on occasion

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Please note: Some evening or weekend hours may be required to support marketing activities.
