Position Title: Director, Emergency Department
60200 EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Summary:
Functions as the clinical and administrative Director for the Emergency Department, BED, and ICU. Has 24 hour/7 day accountability for quality and operational excellence.
Functions as the clinical and administrative manager for a nursing patient care unit. Has 24 hour/7 day accountability for operational excellence. The ICU Nursing Director is accountable for financial and quality outcomes.
Scope of Service:
This is a Level II Emergency Care Facility that offers 24 hour a day emergency care. At least one physician is on the premises 24 hours a day. The Department is staffed and equipped to handle all medical and surgical emergencies. The hospital staff provides backup services and has appropriate transfer protocols to obtain services not available within the hospital complex. Services are provided to patients of all ages and entities to include Medical, Surgical, Orthopedic, Neurological, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Behavioral, ENT, and Ophthalmology.
Education/License
- 4 years / Bachelor’s Degree
Experience
- More than 5 yrs.
- Must possess a valid State of Maine RN license.
- At least 2 years of progressively responsible leadership positions.
- Previous nursing experience in the ED.
- Individuals in these positions will be expected to be actively working on an advanced degree up to the Masters’ level.
- Strong preference will be given to candidates who already have their Master’s degree.
