Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Director of Emergency Services to lead our dedicated team in Richmond, VA. As the RN Director of Emergency Services, you will oversee all aspects of Emergency care delivery, ensuring exceptional patient outcomes, efficient operations, and compliance with regulatory standards. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote a culture of excellence and innovation within the Emergency Department (ED) while fostering a supportive environment for staff development and growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Emergency Services Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols to optimize emergency care delivery, enhance patient safety, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Oversee staffing levels, scheduling, and recruitment efforts to maintain appropriate staffing ratios and ensure adequate coverage to meet patient needs.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff, to coordinate patient care and facilitate interdisciplinary communication and collaboration.
  • Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators, such as patient satisfaction, throughput metrics, and clinical outcomes, to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies for enhancement.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and best practices in emergency care, including Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), HIPAA, and CMS regulations.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance patient experience, streamline processes, and optimize resource utilization within the ED.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development among ED staff, providing education, training, and mentorship opportunities to enhance clinical skills and promote career advancement.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership to develop and implement strategic goals and initiatives aligned with organizational priorities and objectives.
  • Serve as a liaison between the ED and other departments within the organization to promote effective communication, collaboration, and coordination of care.

Qualifications:

  • Valid RN license in the state of Virginia, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in emergency nursing, with progressive leadership experience in an acute care setting.
  • Current certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Emergency care principles, protocols, and best practices, with a commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate teams, foster collaboration, and drive organizational change.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on customer service and patient satisfaction.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, performance metrics, and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to effectively manage resources, prioritize competing demands, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to professional growth and development, with a willingness to pursue additional certifications and continuing education opportunities.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and compliance principles.
