Massachusetts Assisted Living Association (Mass-ALA) is seeking an assisted living professional with a background in operations, training, and clinical management to serve as Director of Education for Mass-ALA. The Director of Education is responsible for the overall educational initiatives and programming for Mass-ALA and its membership. The person in this role will be responsible for creating educational curriculums for assisted living residence staff and for connecting Mass-ALA’s educational programs with the Executive Office of Elder Affairs’ regulations. We are seeking a candidate with a practical knowledge of how assisted living residences comply with regulations and documentation in their operations, that is capable of answering related day-to-day questions from assisted living staff.

The Director of Education is responsible for planning, developing, and executing various educational programs and an annual conference and trade show, as well as creating educational resources, and other activities relative to Mass-ALA’s strategic quality improvement, public policy initiatives, and organizational goals.

We are seeking someone with the ability to work in a small hybrid office environment and be collaborative, a self-starter, and a team player.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Researching and developing content and educational resources of products and services to be offered by Mass-ALA.
  • Staying current with Massachusetts Assisted Living regulatory compliance and quality improvements (EOEA – Executive Office of Elder Affairs). Ability to interpret and summarize key policy documents for dissemination to members.
  • Executing the action items determined as Strategic Plan educational areas of focus, including the following: 1) supporting the development and implementation of the new Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee mission and goals, including the development of a DEI-focused education curriculum; 2) helping to determine ways to strengthen education quality and scope in 2024; and 3) researching Argentum REACH program, to determine if a version of the program can be established in Massachusetts.
  • Organizing and being the face of Mass-ALA's various educational committees. Subject to change but current committees include Education Committee and Resident Care Committee. Includes working with management to develop agendas, plan and execute meetings on a timely basis, and provide meeting minutes, action items, and progress reports.
  • Developing and managing all educational programs, including researching and working with speakers, vendors, etc. to execute events, processing of CEUs (continuing education credits), educational surveys, and products/services for all Mass-ALA educational events/trainings.
  • Working in collaboration with other internal staff, organizations, members, and/or associations on the development and management of Educational resources and events/trainings.
  • Continuously working to identify innovative product approaches, ideas, and solutions to increase member value and product and service offerings.
  • Seeking sponsorships and fundraising opportunities to support educational programming.
  • Directing and coordinating the incorporation of CEUs (continuing education credits), including the CEU application process and approvals, as well as quality systems to ensure standards compliance with multiple continuing education approving entities.
  • Experience with developing a programmatic budget and meeting financial targets of the package of products and services being delivered in conjunction with staff and management.
  • Gathering and analyzing and reporting data on pre and post events/trainings to ensure objectives are being met and evaluating feedback to create a strategy for successful future events/trainings (e.g., customer satisfaction surveys of residents and families) as directed by management.
  • Responding to incoming communication and inquiries from consumers and allied professionals on assisted living, as the main point of contact for the Mass-ALA Helpline.

 

Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • License or certification in a relevant field preferred.
  • Educational programming background is strongly encouraged.
  • 5-10 years of experience in human services, health care, assisted living or gerontology.
  • Demonstrated history of successful implementation of Educational events and services required.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and customer service skills are essential.
  • Expertise in relationship-building and communication skills with a diverse audience.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office platform is required.
  • Knowledge of and a willingness to stay current on assisted living best practices, industry trends, and workforce challenges is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working in or with a nonprofit/membership association, in a healthcare organization and the assisted living industry, is highly desirable.

Other Details:

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
  • Employment benefits include: competitive health and dental insurance plans that are 80% employer-paid, 401K plan with 5% employer match, 100% employer-paid life insurance coverage, salary with an annual bonus incentive program and annual salary review - along with accrued vacation, sick and personal time and 13 paid holidays.
  • Office hours are Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM with a hybrid in-office and work-from-home format.
  • A valid Massachusetts Driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required.
