We also work to provide operational support with focus on logistics, capital equipment, technology, and marketing. By leveraging the billion dollar buying power of our members, LMC ensures our members have a competitive edge to capture more of their local market share.
We are seeking a Director of Dealer Technology who will be responsible for defining and executing on a strategy to improve the technical capabilities of LMC's member dealers.  The first focus of the role will be the creation and operation of an e-commerce program, but the responsibilities will span well beyond that.  Examples include: (1) finding ways to better enable cross-dealer collaboration and communication to better leverage LMC's collective size in dealing with ERP providers and other technology vendors, (2) developing new program offerings that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Dealers' in-store, warehouse, and back office operations, and (3) working with the rest of the IT organization to ensure LMC's order and invoice management processes are making dealers' operations as simple as possible.  The Director of Dealer Technology will become a primary contact for dealers' technical teams, and will need to understand their businesses well to be an effective partner. This position requires work in our office Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays, as well as the first Monday of each month.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with the VP Technology, define the LMC technology roadmap for improving dealer technical capabilities.  Socialize with LMC leadership and other stakeholders to build awareness and support.  Define business models and budgets, and present to LMC leadership for approval.
  • Manage the implementation of any new Dealer Technology programs as both business owner and technical lead.  Responsibilities include scope definition, vendor review and selection, price negotiation (both with vendors and dealers), value proposition definition, and go-to-market planning (and execution).
  • Partner with LMC Marketing and dealers to create and execute marketing and education plans for LMC technology offerings.
  • Manage the in-life operations of any Dealer Technology programs, including service delivery/reliability, customer (dealer) lifecycle, and reporting (both operational and financial).
  • Lead vendor teams and eventually an internal team in building and supporting Dealer Technology offerings.
  • Define and execute plans for building dealer-to-dealer interaction and collaboration as it relates to technology.  Build relationships with the technology leaders at LMC dealers to better understand their needs, how LMC can help them, and how they can help each other.
  • Explore retail, operations, and back office technology solutions that may benefit LMC dealers and work with the vendors to create LMC buying programs.

Key Competencies:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and comfortably with a wide range of stakeholders at LMC, its dealers, and partners/vendors.
  • Excel at dealing with ambiguity and bringing order and organization to complex situations.
  • Comfortable with vendor negotiations and pricing management.
  • Strong leader of direct reports and influencer of peers and others.
  • Excel at time management, prioritization, communication skills, and organization skills.
  • Ability to manage conflict and drive resolution.
  • Ability to drive for results through effective leadership and coaching skills.

  • Enable quick decisions, energize others by clarifying purpose/why, and escalate quickly and effectively when warranted.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to get along well with others and work in a team environment.

Qualifications:

  • E-commerce experience is strongly preferred (as either a platform/service provider, or in managing a 3rd-party platform that served direct customers).
  • Experience in creating business models for new products is preferred.
  • Direct experience managing a technology product P&L is preferred.
  • Experience working with cloud-based ERP or CRM systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and isolate issues between interconnected systems.
