To help us continue growing, we’re seeking an experienced Director, Community Engagement to lead public engagement efforts. This highly organized, team-oriented and flexible individual will lead the crucial functions of coordinating the company's high visibility Community Engagement activities that help inform our programmatic, development, and community outreach decisions. The duties of this role will include engaging directly with stakeholders in local communities, businesses, organizations, and partners, and will create operational programming for each business vertical, including marketing outreach materials and reporting.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinating the department’s high visibility Community Engagement activities in collaboration with corporate marketing team that will inform Cobblestone's programmatic decisions and provide resources to local communities upon entry to market.
  • Engage directly with local residents, businesses, and other community organizations and partners through company approved materials and communications plans.
  • Organize meetings and other engagement opportunities to foster community member turnout and mobilization for specific initiatives with key stakeholders while assisting with local government affairs duties as needed.
  • Establish standards and protocol plans for all Community Engagements; work closely with other staff to ensure the department is most effectively engaging with community and other stakeholders.
  • Develop a multi-year strategic plan for community outreach initiatives including a centers of influence list.
  • Lead the creative development of promotional materials, website content, advertisements, a monthly newsletter and other marketing-related projects, including social media with corporate marketing team.
  • Outreach and engage with residents, businesses, philanthropic and community organizations, and partners to raise awareness about what the city is doing to address housing, economic development, student enrollment and to increase awareness of and/or participation in college and community housing services and programs, commercial programs, and provide opportunities to promote our work.
  • Outreach to stakeholders to get feedback and input on how company's strategic plan is working at scale, identify what gaps there may be, how we can improve, and help inform strategic program development.
  • Create presentation templates and other materials to connect with, and inform, community members and partners, including producing content for websites, newsletters and social media.
  • Attend and present at existing community meetings or create new opportunities to engage with the communities.
  • Identify and develop relationships with influencers and trusted messengers in the community to build trust and authentic engagement.
  • Support executive management and cross-functional teams with Community Engagement activities, lease up strategies, marketing campaigns, brand plans, briefings, correspondence, campus programming, outreach, and coaching.
  • Serve as the coordinator for community advisory meetings, ensuring key support functions are fulfilled (scheduling, correspondence, agenda/minutes preparation, etc.)
  • Develop regular communication with partners and share our story by maintaining joint marketing efforts, including scheduling quarterly workshops with potential partners and updating the brochures and websites with corporate marketing team.
  • Build relationships with partners, lenders, realtors, and other professionals to develop referral sources and expand partnerships and opportunities into new markets in cross-collaboration with Strategy and Investments Teams.
  • Develop a database, including building out a CRM, that includes individuals, partners, corporations, and foundations that we can partner with for community initiatives and action to give back to the community, and build into a consistent brand in line with our values of Culture, Care, and Community.
  • Follow Local, Regional & Statewide Legislation, Policies & Programs to understand newest initiatives in sourcing and financing property deals.
  • Ability to embody Cobblestone Development & Consulting LLC values every day.
  • Travel: Visit properties, new developments, and home office on a regular basis. This position requires up to 20-25% travel.
  • Other duties as assigned. The position may also be modified to accommodate the specific needs of the business.

​SKILLS & ABILITIES EDUCATION:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in public administration, communications or a related field
  • Experience: Five (5) years of experience performing full performance professional level duties within government affairs, communications, or other related Community Engagement.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive experience working in Community Engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and motivated to help others.
  • Ability to manage multiple processes simultaneously, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to navigate complex subject matter and execute associated communications.
  • Adept at creating relationships across departments and organizations with a variety of stakeholders.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Advanced usage of Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word and Excel. Familiarity with property management software such as Yardi Matrix, Entrata, and Onesite. Proficiency operating remote software for virtual team meetings. Proficiency with HTML and Adobe Acrobat.

​REGULAR WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position will involve 95% of the time in an indoor office environment.
  • Requires driving and other travel up to 20-25% of the time.
  • Seldomly works in outdoor weather conditions.
  • This position will have intermittent supervision.
  • The regular weekly schedule for this position will be as follows:
  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM CST – 5:00 PM CST.
  • Position may occasionally require some evenings or weekends to meet job requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must be able to push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver office products and supplies of up to twenty (20) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Routine local travel is required to attend training classes, client visits, or other situations necessary for the accomplishment of some or all the daily responsibilities of this position.
