What you'll do:
In this role, you'll be responsible for leading a team of highly experienced and technically driven subject matter experts dedicated to delivering exceptional client service by partnering with our largest, highest value, most complex (preferred) clients, to onboard and service new relationships, deposit and treasury products and digital banking solutions. This team is focused on providing tailored and comprehensive white-glove service to clients with generally more than $20MM in revenue and partnering with field-based relationship managers across the organization to take ownership of the execution and delivery of new (prospective) and existing client requests, identifying opportunities for additional business, and maintaining strong operational standards and exceptional client service. The leader of this team will play a critical role in aligning our customer interactions with our business goals, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, contributing to revenue generation, and leading an operationally sound team. Key to the role is collaborating with business partners in Product, Service, Sales, and Technology in continuing to build our digital and API strategy to enable a competitive product and service offering for our commercial and small business clients; and to deliver an efficient and superior client onboarding experience.
The ideal candidate will work to lead, coach, and manage a team of successful financial professionals with expert-level knowledge of the bank's most complex products, services, and processes. This team works with clients throughout their lifecycle with the bank, from prospect through routine service delivery and can identify and make recommendations of opportunities to deepen client relationships through new deposit, treasury, and loan products, while working to provide exceptional client service by displaying a strong ownership mentality and resolving client needs.
The Commercial Service teams will be responsible for fully understanding and leveraging a suite of technology products to interact with clients and perform client-requested account maintenance as well as accurately onboarding new accounts and TM products. The teams will be responsible for performing outbound client outreach during the establishment of products/services or the sales process, or other events requiring proactive client engagement. As part of the deal team, members of this team will be expected to travel when necessary to help structure and plan new business opportunities with prospective and existing clients.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technology and process leadership, maintain expert-level knowledge of the bank's systems and their ability to integrate with outside ERP and accounting platforms, as well as financial sales and service leadership with the ability to create new ideas and execute on action plans to achieve specified service goals. Additionally, the candidate will possess an outgoing personality and have strong contacts within the industry to help progress the Preferred Banking and Commercial Service operating model and make recommendations, and help support the implementation of new technologies to improve service and efficiency.
This role will be based in a Western Alliance corporate office and will primarily involve managing a team of in-person employees located in sites across the southwest.
What we are looking for:
  • Recruit, lead, and manage a team of subject matter experts providing guidance, support, and coaching to improve sales and service delivery, ensuring the team exceeds client expectations and achieves performance targets.
  • Cultivate and inspire a team to execute the strategy for the operational delivery of complex products and services for our clients.
  • Maintains expert-level knowledge of client ERPs, accounting platforms, and various technical solutions and the Banks capability to interface.
  • Partner with divisional executive leadership to understand current and upcoming opportunities and ensure the right people and resources are in place to deliver an exceptional client experience.
  • Responsible for working in concert with IT to execute technical steps in certain client product implementations (i.e., bulk file transfer, SFTP, etc.)
  • Develop a deep understanding of how our technology is tied together (networks, systems, vendors) and the role/responsibilities that each team plays in ensuring our business can function at a high level of consistency and reliability.
  • Create a disciplined approach in vetting, implementing, and monitoring client activity as well as monitoring and communicating/escalating issues/incidents identified in the daily course of business.
  • Build and maintain the core responsibilities and accountabilities for this team and related performance measures including KPIs around volume targets, response times and availability times, and KRIs when applicable.
  • Drive cross-line-of-business partnerships to deliver the full value of the Western Alliance brand.
  • Maintains knowledge of the bank's contact center, core, and ancillary systems and serves as strategic adviser to the direction of the systems that impact contact center operations. Regularly assesses processes to identify feasible opportunities for improvement and efficiencies in the operational areas and offers solutions while also aiming to enhance the customer experience.
  • May at times handle and satisfactorily resolve escalated client or internal partner requests.
  • Serve as a process management expert for systems, internal processes, and regulatory requirements and maintain knowledge of and support functions related to deposit and lending activity, anti-money laundering, privacy, loss avoidance, and other operational regulations to ensure that bank operations are carried out in compliance with internal regulations and all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Participate in and act as a key contributor to bank-wide transformation projects supporting change focused on improving the employee and client experience through technology. Manages special projects by coordinating, gathering data, providing resolution, and reporting results to executives and others, as appropriate. Interprets performance results, finds opportunities to drive success, and holds others accountable for results.
  • Leads and develops a team; responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management, training, and development.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed for regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of Western Alliance Bank deposit, lending, and treasury management products and services.
  • Stay abreast of changing business trends that impact the financial services and contact center industries and translate those trends into business opportunities.
  • Assist in mitigating risk, verifying audit compliance, and procedural quality control through numerous operational reviews. Ensure compliance with established Bank policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.

Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or other relevant field from a four-year college or university recommended. Master's degree in business, accounting, finance, or similar is preferred.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience leading complex technical teams or Commercial Banking sales/service teams
  • Ten (10) or more years in a bank and/or FI delivering digital product and service capabilities as a service to the organization; leading vendor and technical enablement and client onboarding, managing change control and change management, business process improvement, and problem/incident management.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team management abilities.
  • Expert knowledge of technical processes and solutions related to bank core deposit and treasury management systems; along with expertise in generally available ERP and/or accounting platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management, and/or other Commercial Banking products and services.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to create momentum, foster organizational change, and work with other members of senior management.
  • Experience advising clients and internal partners on recommended solutions.
  • Strong speaking and writing skills for internal and external audiences.

Compensation: Salary range for new hires is generally $151,664.00 - $187,349.00 for San Jose, CA. Salary range for new hires is generally $126,386.00 - $156,124.00 for Las Vegas, NV. Salary range for new hires is generally $142,185.00 - $175,640.00 for San Diego, CA. Salary range for new hires is generally $126,386.00 - $156,124.00 for Reno, NV. Salary amount is determined by specific job location. In addition, the role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives earned and restricted stock.
