Job description

Job Summary:
The Director of Clinical Compliance oversees Clinical Compliance initiatives of the Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center at the direction of the Vice President of Nursing, in collaboration with the Medical Director, the Interdisciplinary Team, Nursing Leadership, the Infection Prevention (IP) and QAPI Specialist, and departmental leadership. The Director of Clinical Compliance provides leadership, direction, and support to sustain and advance the mission of the Home of the Innocents and ensure facility compliance. The Director of Clinical Compliance embodies the Core Values of compassion, wellness, excellence, and empowerment to ensure standards of excellence and quality that adhere to federal, state, local, and facility standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements while maintaining an environment in which children, families, and team members thrive.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position directly supervises the RAI Coordinator, Resident Information Management Specialist, Clinical Care Coordinator, Infection Prevention Nurse, and Medical Records Clerk

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Direct, oversee, support, and supervise KCC compliance initiatives that support resident care with compassion and professionalism providing multi-faceted leadership, support, and service, focusing on quality assurance and improvement, safety, infection prevention and control, and regulatory compliance, continually engaging team members to provide the highest quality of care delivery as outlined in each individualized comprehensive care plan.
  • Direct and oversee the management and release of medical records, including eHR management, to ensure records are complete and compliant with federal, state, local, and facility standards and regulations.
  • Direct and oversee the Infection Prevention, Vaccination and Skin and Wound programs in collaboration with the Quality and Compliance Department and KCC team members, facilitating KCC quality and infection prevention and control initiatives that are aligned with federal, state, local, and facilities standards and regulations.
  • Recruit, lead, mentor, and support a team of highly motivated professionals to seek and ensure innovation, collaboration, and quality, evaluating the job performance of direct reports.
  • Oversee, evaluate, and ensure regulatory compliance of Nursing Department strategies and protocols focusing on outcomes-based quality of care utilizing the Resident
  • Assessment Instrument and Care Planning, effective infection prevention and control, effective wound management, and resident safety, promptly responding to deficiencies and concerns as required and as needed.
  • Maintain preparedness for and participate in regulatory inspections and assist in preparing any plans of correction that may be required.
  • Assist as needed to develop, implement, and oversee department financial objectives collaboratively with departmental leadership to meet fiscal targets.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Thorough understanding of long-term skilled nursing care federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and gain support among internal and external stakeholders to seek innovation and influence change.
  • Must function independently, with flexibility, personal integrity, professionalism, and compassion to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and in various states of crisis.

  • Proficient with current Microsoft Office Suite and related software.

Education and Experience:
  • Associates Degree in Nursing is required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree is preferred.
  • Unencumbered and current Commonwealth of Kentucky Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Minimum two years of Clinical experience in a long-term care facility is required.
  • Experience in MDS coordination, Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement, Long term care regulations, and/or Clinical Informatics preferred.
  • Current CPR/Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification is required and provided.

Physical Requirements:
  • May be physically and emotionally demanding.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and computer workstation.
  • Extended work hours and 24-hour availability to meet on call requirements.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 35 lbs. up to 65 lbs. unassisted, from the floor using proper body mechanics.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions and frequent movement throughout the day, including responding to emergencies.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in the English language.
  • Must be able to physically attend and participate in continuing education and training on-site, off-site, in the community, and out of state.
