Director Of Children And Youth Ministry

First Christian Church of Tyler, TX (FCC) seeks a Director of Youth and Children’s
Ministries. FCC has a long and storied history of ministering to the people of Tyler
stretching back well over a century. Located in one of the largest cities in East Texas,
FCC is a well-resourced congregation with a student ministry that sees around 30
students between the ages of 5 & 18 each week. With a well-kept and modern campus,
the church is physically located in one of the busiest areas of town giving it the potential
to increase outreach to the young people of Tyler and surrounding communities. The
ideal candidate will be able to grow this program internally while creating a mentality of
reaching out, ministering to, and serving the community at large. The compensation
package begins at $60,000. Specific compensation will be commensurate with
experience. The candidate will be responsible for arranging health benefits & retirement.
A bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred.

Job description
● Develop & implement Youth Ministry program to include at least two weekly
meetings including Sunday morning Sunday school and one evening meeting,
along with summer mission trip(s) and camps
● Coordinate nursery staff & volunteers for Sunday morning worship and other
programs as needed
● Develop & implement Children’s ministry program that includes Sunday morning
Sunday school, quarterly Children’s Ministry activities, and summer programs
● Create and disseminate monthly ministry calendars to the entire church.
● Create and disseminate weekly or monthly ministry area newsletter to parents.
● Engage children of all ages “where they are.”  This could include Instagram, X, Facebook, lunch at school, other
appropriate 1-1 interactions, etc.
● Recruit a stable core of volunteers to lead and facilitate all age-level groups
● Provide leadership opportunities for all age levels
● Be a leader in the region for Youth & Children Ministry by taking on planning and
leadership roles at denomination camps throughout the calendar year
● Assist other staff members or in other ministry areas as requested by the Senior
Minister
