Army Navy Country Club, a full-service private member owned facility with two locations in northern Virginia is looking for an experienced Director of Catering at its' Arlington, VA campus.
Candidates should demonstrate significant prior experience in booking and managing catered events including weddings and banquets at a busy luxury hotel, conference center or large private club venue. Responsibilities include working with members, guests and other department heads on all details relating to their events including the preparation of banquet event orders. Being detail oriented and organized are critical in this high-profile position.

Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from four-year college in Hospitality, Event Management, Business or related field with 1-3 years of experience; or 4-6 years of related experience and/or training in place of a Bachelor's Degree, previous Country Club experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities
- Assist members and non-members create event orders for all types of events (including, but not limited to: breakfasts, luncheons, dinners, holiday parties, birthday parties, funeral receptions, weddings, corporate functions, golf outings, tennis luncheons, swim meets)
- Has a thorough knowledge of set up, layouts and maximum room configurations for a variety of banquet activities including, but not limited to: meetings, weddings and receptions
- Communicates with the Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef and Sous Chef in a timely and effective manner regarding future and same day events to ensure ultimate satisfaction for our guests
- Development and execution of client correspondence, contracts, BEO's and invoices
- Works closely with club organizations such as Tennis, Aquatics, Golf, Committees to get events on the calendar and stay within budget
- Maintain Club's master calendar, working closely with the Director of Operations and the Club Events Coordinator
- Provide weekly function information for all affected staff and provide timely updates or changes as necessary
- Create floor plans of major events to assist Banquet Captain with proper set up of the venue.
- Ensure guest satisfaction at events and address area of concern; works with the Banquet Captain to critique functions to determine future needs and to implement necessary changes for increased quality and satisfaction.
- Ability to handle guest and interdepartmental inquiries in a quick, concise and polite manner
- Ability to fulfill deadlines under any circumstances
- Send out event booking forms to host and track submission of room deposits and payments
- Responsible for internal communication of all event details between Food and Beverage Department, Kitchen, and House Services
- Respond to phone calls and emails for event inquiries or from event hosts in a timely, friendly, professional and efficient manner

- Sound command of the English language, both written and spoken
- Basic understanding and knowledge of the catering industry, menu development, and menu pricing
- Knowledge of all menu items including food, wine, spirits and beer
- Keyboard and word processing skills, including use of Internet service
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, specifically publisher
- Exceptional verbal & written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Jonas and Social Tables knowledge is a plus
