Form of workIntroduction Maryland Public Television, commonly known as MPT, is a public television network that broadcasts throughout the entire state of Maryland and the District of Columbia and into parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is Maryland's only statewide broadcaster. Headquartered in Owings Mills, MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and is a producer of both locally and nationally distributed TV programs and digital content.
GRADE MPT 0008 LOCATION OF POSITION Maryland Public Television 11767 Owings Mills Blvd. Owings Mills, MD 21117 Main Purpose of Job This position reports to the Senior Managing Director of Programming & Acquisitions and manages daily and ongoing functions of the MPT Traffic department. This position assembles a monthly MPT-HD program schedule into Protrack, and is a liaison with Myers software vendor as well as PBS, program distributors and other public media stations.
This position manages system upgrades directly affecting the department and is a liaison with content services for monthly program guide accuracy. Provides PBS Kids logs to Master Control. Verifies program availability prior to air on all channels.
Verifies program info for Master Control two weeks prior to air for quality checking of programs for correct playback, closed captioning and correct lengths, with enough time to obtain programs from another source if replacement is needed. This position works with PMM to address missing program issues/needs. This role will fill breaks in PBS Kids logs and provide to MC one week prior to air.
This position may require working nights, weekends, and holidays. POSITION DUTIES The position include but are not limited to the following: - Check PBS for daily program information and updates. - Provide pre-logs to Master Control, verifying program availability prior to air.
- Collates program data from various sources to assemble and issue the monthly MPT-HD grid schedule. - Absorb the details of day to day traffic operations to ensure smooth flow of information. - Monitor and maintain server storage capacity.
- Initiate and maintain contacts with PBS, program distributors, (NETA, APT, BBC) and other PBS stations. - Input new local program offers into Protrack. - Main liaison between Myers Information System (Protrack) and MPT employees.
- Responsible for coordinating with engineering in managing all upgrades directly affecting programming/traffic department. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university Experience: Minimum five years working in broadcast television and at least 3 years working with ProTrack software. Knowledge of Master Control and Satellite Uplink operations is a must.

Experience with ProTrack software. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
