Job Summary:
The School of Public Health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Director of Admissions & Recruitment / Senior Staff Associate.
The Director for Recruitment & Admissions will be responsible for providing strategic management in the development of a targeted recruitment plan for the School of Public Health (SPH). The main responsibilities include serving as the primary liaison to the Office of Admissions at Downstate Health Sciences University in matters relating to recruitment and enrollment. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, the incumbent will oversee all recruitment activities, supervise a team of recruitment specialists, and develop new strategic enrollment and marketing partnerships while ensuring that prospective students experience a successful application and admission process.
Overall job tasks include, but are not limited to:
Recruitment & Admissions
- Oversees recruitment and admission for both the Brooklyn campus and the Manhattan extension site
- Develops and implements strategic recruitment plans and provides leadership in achieving SPH enrollment goals
- Serves as a central coordinator of policy and implementation of SPH admission activities, including the SPH Committee for Admissions and the SPH Doctoral Committee
- Manages SOPHAS / AMP application completion, assignment and review of applications within the SPH Admissions and Doctoral committees
- Develops, establishes and continuously improves policies and procedures for obtaining maximum productivity from the University admissions system and SOPHAS
- Oversees the admissions process for all applicants and provides leadership in the development of all SPH admission literature, marketing and advertising materials
- Collaborates with both University and SPH leadership to identify additional market segments, partners and University-wide programs and initiatives for targeted recruitment, that will lead to a diverse pool of qualified students and increased enrollment
- Identifies and communicates changes to SOPHAS, AMP systems to reflect new programs and admission requirements and revisions
- Serves as the primary liaison between Office of Admissions and the SPH on MD/MPH applicants and other allied health applicants in terms of review of applications, notification of decisions and selection of concentrations
- Actively works with and supports relationships maintenance with educational partners with whom we have current MOAs
- Plans and directs program information sessions on campus and at locations in target markets, involving key administrators, faculty, alumni and students were appropriate
- Develops and directs all outreach efforts to actively promote, attract, and enroll international students
- Supervises staff in the coordination and execution of recruitment events
Data Management
- Complies with, and understands, the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
- Develops a database and tracking mechanism to collect, analyze and monitor current and historical SPH enrollment data
- Monitors and provides data regarding communication and metrics of prospective and in-progress applicants for review at weekly recruitment meetings
- Ensures consistent data collection and reporting to meet immediate and long-range University objectives
- Coordinates with relevant offices (e.g. Institutional Research, Office of Admissions) to ensure accuracy of SPH enrollment data for internal and external reporting purposes.
Strategic Planning
- Develops and implements strategic recruitment plans and provides leadership in achieving the SPH enrollment goals
- Analyzes market conditions and trends in Public Health and higher education admissions and develops / adjusts recruitment strategies accordingly
- Explores and enhances the strategic use of scholarships and financial aid in recruitment efforts
- Coordinates admissions marketing initiatives and contributes to the development of an institutional marketing plan

- Master's Degree.
- Significant experience in admissions and experience in management and supervision.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday; 9:00am to 5:00pm
