VantAI is seeking a Director of Accounting to build the foundation of our Accounting and Finance functions. In this high-impact role, you will work directly with our COO/CFO to manage a wide range of aspects when it comes to accounting and finance to champion our continued growth. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic guidance as we enter a stage of hyper-growth. You will connect-the-dots and update the executive team on important decision points and critical operations to ensure VantAI meets their short-term and long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and lead all aspects of Accounting operations for VantAI
- Develop and maintain necessary accounting policies and systems that anticipate the needs of the business to support our continued growth
- Oversee all transactions related to the general ledger, company bank accounts, AR/AP, payroll, 401(k) administration, vendor management, and financial and tax reporting
- Review monthly/quarterly account reconciliations, journal entries and other documents to ensure compliance with US GAAP accounting principles
- Collaborate with the HR team on employee-related matters, such as equity/stock administration
- Work closely with key stakeholders on broader finance and accounting responsibilities, including quarterly/annual book closings
- Lead comparing budgeted figures vs. actual results and adopting suitable tools to analyze the gaps between the two; collectively impact a precise forecast process
- Proactively seek out ways to streamline processes for cost savings by historical expense analysis
- Actively engage and own relevant processes related to external party communications and interactions, in addition to working with cross-functional teams to streamline our payment and accounting processes
Basic Qualifications:
- 10+ years of related accounting and finance experience
- Prior accounting firm experience (Big 4 firm experience is strongly preferred)
- Prior experience working at a start-up
- Prior experience working with QuickBooks, with a successful track record of launching NetSuite
- Demonstrated experience establishing internal controls at a small company or start-up environment; ability to identify and resolve technical challenges during early-stage growth
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability; ability to manage multiple projects
- Quick and scrappy learner who adapts well to a fast-moving environment and gets things done, combining creativity, problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude to overcome any obstacle
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance and/or related field
- Active CPA license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to influence senior-level management and key stakeholders is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with a strong desire to work in cross-functional teams
- AI/Tech, Life Sciences and general business acumen with a comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical or big-tech industries is a plus, but not required
- Experience with financial analysis and forecasting is a plus, but not required

Salary: $160,000 - $190,000
