Job description

Position Summary

The Director, Nursing Education provides overall strategic leadership for the College's nursing programs, learner and programmatic outcomes, and is responsible for oversight of the learner-related matters and academic performance, including the quality and continuous improvement of academic programs. The Director, Nursing Education is responsible for maintaining programmatic accreditation for all program offerings by overseeing the development, implementation, optimization, and continuous improvement of strategic initiatives, culture, practice standards, and mission fulfillment.



Essential Function and Responsibilities:


  • Evaluates the efficiency of departmental performance and procedures according to organizational objectives and identifies areas of improvement and opportunity to implement additional protocols and procedures
  • Utilizes and appropriately communicates data for effective decision making
  • Ensures all nursing programs, policies, and departmental standards comply with established and evolving regulations and institutional standards
  • Provides guidance and support to leadership that is responsible for Nursing Education operations
  • Contributes to the review, evaluation, development, and delivery of curricula with a focus on the improvement of instruction facilitation and professional development of learners
  • Supports the implementation of a system-wide approach to nursing faculty orientation, training, and ongoing development
  • Collaborate with College leadership to assess needs and develop proposals for new programs
  • Leads programmatic specialty accreditation efforts
  • Participates in the College's Strategic, Tactical, and semesterly planning
  • Develops, implements, and oversees budgets for the Nursing Education
  • Elevates the visibility and image of the College in the community by fostering strategic relationships
  • Participates in the successful implementation of other departmental projects as they arise


Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • A Doctorate in nursing from an accredited institution of higher education is preferred. A PhD or EdD will be considered.
  • National League for Nursing's Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification is strongly preferred
  • A minimum of seven years of leadership experience in education is required
  • A minimum of five years of experience teaching nursing at the college level is required
  • Demonstrated experience with institutional or programmatic accreditation is required
  • Significant experience in the development and administration of curricula, budgets, strategic plans, instructional design and delivery, instructional technology, and learner support and advising services in higher education preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of program review and the evaluation of policies and practices in applied settings is preferred


All new hires are required to attend New Collaborator Orientation (NCO) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The College will pay for travel and lodging accommodations.
