Job Summary
The Director of Learning Experience Design is a key role within our organization, reporting directly to the AVP of Learning Operations. They are responsible for designing and developing assessing learning programs, for both in-person and online modalities.
They champion dynamic learning strategies and maintain strong communication with regional and site leadership, discussing issues like new hire onboarding, sales performance, and training initiatives. Their role is central to understanding and addressing the impact of our learning products.
The Director leads teams that create innovative, engaging content. They also form robust relationships with their peers in program management, program strategy, facilitation, and learning technology to ensure seamless collaboration across all our programs.
Keeping abreast of industry trends, the Director ensures our learning content stays relevant and effective. Their job involves innovating our content creation processes, which boosts the quality and impact of our team's work.
Expected Contributions
Design Strategy

  • Partner with the AVP, Learning Operations to ensure the training strategy aligns with department objectives and timelines.
  • Understand business objectives and utilize relevant data to create adaptable content that meets short-term and long-term goals.
  • Explore new methods to improve content delivery efficiency, addressing evolving business demands.
  • Continually monitor market trends and user demographics to make recommendations for content relevancy and effectiveness.
  • Lead and participate in communication strategies to keep senior stakeholders informed about progress and outcomes.

Business Partnering
  • Collaborate with business representatives and Senior Leaders to present complex concepts in an easily digestible manner.
  • Work closely with business partners to determine effective implementation of learning interventions and identify and develop facilitators for curriculum delivery.
  • Partner with senior leaders, stakeholders, Human Resources leaders, and key vendors to identify, prioritize, and address ongoing training needs.
  • Develop, maintain, and leverage relationships with internal and external stakeholders across all brands and regions.
  • Lead the organization and utilization of Subject Matter Expert groups as required in content design and development.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop the team of content developers.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the organization and roles within it.

Execution
  • Manage individual contributors and managers responsible for content development projects, ensuring project deadlines, budget goals, and changing business or customer needs are met.
  • Lead a range of work activities including analysis, design, development, piloting, and implementation of learning interventions.
  • Collaborate with senior subject matter experts to analyze business needs and translate them into relevant training content.
  • Ensure training content meets the needs of all brands, channels, and a globally deployed workforce.
  • Facilitate professional development training.
  • Ensure training initiatives meet ROI targets through team collaboration.
  • Maintain, communicate, and enforce project plans.
  • Identify and utilize resources to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Ensure legal compliance and proper usage rights for all developed content.

Candidate Profile
Education
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Technical Communications, Education, Instructional Technology/Design, Psychology (I/O), or related discipline. Advanced degree in Instructional Technology/Design or Psychology (I/O) highly desirable.

Experience
  • Minimum of ten years' experience in a professional development training environment, utilizing and mentoring others in advanced instructional design principles in a cross-functional, geographically distributed team environment.
  • A decade of leadership in instructional design, development, and implementation using tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, Dreamweaver), Adobe Captivate, Microsoft Windows and Office applications, as well as proficiency in web and app development using HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, WordPress, Unity, etc.
  • Extensive experience in leading a team of direct and indirect individual contributors and/or managers skilled in storyboarding and authoring interactive training lessons and/or eLearning deliverables. Expertise in transforming Instructor-Led Training (ILT) to Online Training (OLT) or creating blended learning models is highly desirable.
  • Four or more years of experience managing direct reports responsible for the production and implementation of instructional design and/or learning deliverables.
  • Hands-on experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and/or Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS).
  • Proficient in conducting job analyses.
  • Timeshare, sales and marketing, and/or video production experience is highly preferred.
  • Proven project management experience.

  • Highly skilled in analyzing and defining customer/participant requirements and designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining training deliverables and services.
  • Adept at working with a diverse group of associates, valuing the ideas of others, and quickly shifting directions if necessary for project success.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Represents the organization in a professional manner and has the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely to the audience.
  • Proven ability to gather the required information to analyze trends and surface possible solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence vertically and horizontally.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a broad group of stakeholders to build trust and influence key decisions.
  • Proven ability to challenge organizational norms and accepted thinking to improve effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines through effective multitasking and reprioritization of tasks.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and/or internationally, when necessary, up to 30%.
  • Willingness and ability to meet aggressive schedules.
