GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Directs and manages day to day operations and personnel activities including hiring, evaluations, counseling, disciplinary actions, grievances, and discharges. Approves and maintains all vacation, holiday, and work schedules assuring twenty-four hour per day coverage. Evaluates and maintains all legal statistical records including inventory, monthly orders, purchase orders, payroll reports, overtime documentation, efficiency and productivity records, risk management and problem identification reports. Directs and assures adequacy of laboratory supplies through inventory management. Directs and assures quality of laboratory work through quality assurance, provision of adequate staff, counseling and evaluation to assure optimal job performance. Develops and prepares departmental annual capital and budget, goals and objectives. Represents or assigns the laboratory on hospital committees. Is co-owner of IOP/CQI team. Co- responsibility with the Pathologist for CAP preparation, compliance and certification.

- Directs maintenance of all personnel records.
- Evaluates all personnel and administrative reports.
- Plans and coordinates quality control and assurance activities as defines in the standards of the College of American Pathologist laboratory accreditation program.
- Coordinates development of new testing in the laboratory and periodic review of current procedure manuals.
- Evaluates and insures an active continuing education program with the laboratory.
- Seeks input from Laboratory Managers on capital equipment needs.
- Seeks input from Laboratory Managers on adjustments in staffing of individual sections in the laboratory.
- Seeks input from Pathologists and creates presentation of data to be presented at departmental meeting.
- Forecasts and orders laboratory supplies.
- Directs communication within and outside the laboratory.
- Develops in conjunction with the laboratory Medical Director, yearly goals and long range laboratory plans.

7. Responsible for Preparation of the Annual Capital Budget.
- Responsible for monitoring of the Capital budget.
8. Responsible for Preparation of the Annual Operating Budget.
- Responsible for monitoring of the operational Budget
- Preparation of monthly Variance Reports.
9. Supervisors all administrative activities of the Section Chiefs.
10. Owners of the Laboratory IOP/CQI Committee.
11. Responsible for Organizational Safety within the Laboratory.
12. Responsible for staff maintaining Organizational Security and use of ID badge.
13. Responsible for Laboratory proper use of Pneumatic Tube System.
14. Responsible for overseeing Laboratory performance of various internal and external CODES.
15. Responsible for enforcement of regulatory mandates.
16. Responsible for Maintaining Payroll for the Laboratory.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) from a four-year College or University: Required
- One year formal university/hospital based accredited course work in Medical Technology beyond a Bachelor's Degree (15 Months Clinical Internship - ASCP).
- Minimum of six- (5) years of supervisory experience required.

MT or MLS (ASCP)
