Department: MED-Central IT Salary/Grade: ITS/83 Job Summary: The Director, Infrastructure supports the Feinberg School of Medicine, Central IT group, and is responsible for the overall IT systems administration needs of the school, serving 36 departments, centers and institutes as well as central administration. The Director must interpret and develop both the technical and business function of operations. In addition, the role provides performance expertise to information systems end users.

The Director evaluates and enhances workflow and supports metrics and project management. The position oversees new and existing contracts and assists in vendor negotiations. The Director also assists in the development of budget.

The role requires deep functional and operational knowledge of systems administration. Please Note: May be required to work evenings and weekends. Specific Responsibilities: Establish and maintain standard operating procedures.

Adhere to and enhance quality standards and delivery methodologies by routinely reviewing procedures and support need metrics. Utilize metrics to develop performance goals and outline plan to mark milestones. In collaboration with the Senior Director, identify the strategic mission of Feinberg Information Systems.

Manage the implementation of the strategy across the systems administration services unit. Review, develop and implement an organizational structure to meet the infrastructure support needs of Feinberg. Identify processes to manage the demands of departments, centers and institutes.

Work collaboratively with chairs, administrators and other key personnel to fulfill all requirements. In conjunction with NUIT and Northwestern Medicine partners, develop and implement best practices for server maintenance, security requirements and systems controls. Represent Feinberg on committees, or designate appropriate staff to participate.

Gather and analyze performance data, and develop and implement changes and/or enhancements based on analysis. Support management team in policy implementation, providing guidance and direction specific to the needs of infrastructure, but also in relation to other areas of central information technology. Participate in the annual budget planning process, creating the annual budget for school infrastructure services, and recommending strategic financial allocation.

Responsible for financial management of IT infrastructure budget, monitoring performance and accountable to Senior Director for financial performance and decisions. Miscellaneous Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in information systems, technology or similar or the equivalent in education, experience and training.

Seven - 10 years' work experience in a professional systems administration environment in customer support, in a medical center, or higher education administration or similar is required. Seven - 10 years' supervisory experience is required. Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.) Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, accompanied by a pleasant personality and the willingness to work with and help others Customer service experience required, with a proven ability to manage difficult situations with challenging customers Target hiring range for this position will be between $121,573-$170,962 per year.

Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
