Job Summary/Objective
Builds and executes plans to ensure the global Product management team is operating at a high level with the ability to scale and enforce good product management practices. Improves processes and tools across the product organization and works closely with stakeholder groups on the adoption and optimization of those tools. Ensures the Product Operations team has clearly defined goals and plans to achieve and exceed those goals.
Key Responsibilities & Duties (essential to the job)
1. Deeply understands or is able to quickly learn and assess existing processes within the product organization to identify areas for improvement, automation, or further analysis.
2. Has the ability to work closely across functional teams and strategic business units to push initiatives and projects forward.
3. Drives product management best practices across Global Product management teams to ensure success throughout the processes. This can include but is not limited to:
- Ensuring business unit leaders are choosing the right projects to prioritize
- Drive effective roadmap reviews at a regular cadence
- Making sure product teams are being good and efficient partners with other functional teams when moving projects forward
- Making certain go-to-market plans are inclusive and thorough from documentation to communication and marketing to reporting to execution
- Managing and optimizing tools the product management team uses
- Building a process for and ensuring projects are assessed post-release for cost, budget, and meeting defined internal or external customer impact
5. Manages a product team onboarding program for new product team members and continued professional development for existing team members.
6. Maintains OEC customer pricing strategy by managing price change processes, building plans to react to pricing performance changes, and identifying areas for additional opportunities. Identifies and executes plans for process improvements around all pricing initiatives.
7. Manages the Product Operations team, driving business processes for cross-functional product lines; motivates and coaches team members for continual success; resolves high-level obstacles, as necessary, for team members; and provides formal and informal feedback.
Education
An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with focus in technology, business or a relevant discipline. In the absence of a degree, directly related job experience in product support or product development where a number of years and proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement.
Experience, Skills and Key Competencies
Essential:
- At least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in a product development environment, with at least 2 years of Product Operations and 2 years of supervisory experience including conducting performance reviews and coaching employees to success
- Experience managing large-scale projects and implementations
- Able to manage at both a daily operational level with the staff as well as at a strategic level with OEC management
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to manage client relationships
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to establish credibility within teams as a knowledgeable, effective leader
- Detailed knowledge of market conditions, competing products, and customers
- Strategic thinker with a track record of success evaluating and implementing new technology products
- Demonstrated proactive ability to lead cross-functional teams to successful project completion and resolve complex problems along the way
- Occasional travel is expected for this position (up to 20% of time).
