General Notes
Additional hours will be required to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This job is not suitable for remote work and is expected to work regular in-office hours. Travel is required.
Purpose
The Director of Development is charged with maximizing revenues from leadership fundraising initiatives, including capital, DeLoss Dodds Leadership Team, the United Texas Circle, endowed and planned giving opportunities. The will be accomplished in accordance with all Federal, State, NCAA, Conference and Institutional Regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of 120 major gift prospects focusing on solicitations of $100,000 and above with mature prospects. Emphasis on portfolio and program building is to be expected in the first 2 years. Conduct at least 200 strategic in-person moves with prospects and donors per year, and participate in a minimum of 20 solicitations per year. Within 18 months of start date with Longhorn Foundation, consistently produce $3M+ per year.
  • Oversee a team of major gift officers. Participate in the planning and development of goals and objectives for the Longhorn Foundation. Recruit, hire, train and supervise professional staff.
  • Assist the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development with planning and execution of capital campaigns for UT Athletic facilities and other special initiatives. Duties include but are not limited to meeting planning, internal and external communication, outreach, data management collaboration, event organization.
  • Aggressively identify, and formally qualify, new major and planned gift prospects by developing and executing long-range and short-range strategies and plans to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects, producing a continuous stream of donors capable of making gifts of $100,000 or more to the Longhorn Foundation. Collaborate with the data management to assess prospects and develop strategies designed to realize the current and life-time giving potential of individual prospects.
  • Support annual fund initiatives, including but not limited to season ticket sales and renewals, and Longhorn Foundation membership campaigns. Support the Leadership Giving leadership on specific Leadership Giving campaign initiatives for Texas Athletics. Partner with Longhorn Foundation colleagues to develop, plan, and execute successful campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain an astute awareness of social, business, and philanthropic cultures within the respective donor market, and serve as an expert liaison for the Longhorn Foundation community. Exhibit strong writing and speaking abilities. Exemplify core purpose and values of the Athletics Department
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of Texas Athletics priorities and make a persuasive verbal and written case for supporting key programs and projects, effectively matching the interests of prospects to specific Athletics Department needs. Assist the Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Associate Athletics Director in promoting an ethical culture supportive of the strategic plan.
  • Consistently exemplify the core values (Diversity, Integrity, Accountability, Loyalty, Excellence, Creativity, Teamwork) and quality standards (Safety, Texas Hospitality, Teamwork, Efficiency) of Texas Athletics. Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Big 12, or other governing body, including state and federal laws. Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income. Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Big 12 Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR. Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. A minimum of five years of experience assisting with fundraising programs. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree. Affiliation with the University of Texas at Austin and/or as a former student-athlete or alumni. Five or more years of experience in individual major gifts fundraising with a record of consistently closing major gifts.
Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
