Your role at Clorox:
The Director of Environmental Sustainability drives the company's global Environmental Sustainability strategy, a key ESG priority for the company's long-term integrated IGNITE strategy. Focused on developing and implementing strategies to advance the company's 2030 SBTi and 2050 Net Zero targets will be a primary responsibility of this position. Additionally, the successful individual will also drive the development of the company's zero waste to landfill and water strategies as appropriate.
In this role, you will:
- Lead a cross-functional Net Zero working group to develop scalable and repeatable processes to assess, plan and guide business units on the development of business unit-level net zero plans.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to business unit teams to reduce carbon emissions, including a carbon reduction guidebook to assist business units in carbon reduction strategies.
- Partner with the ESG Sourcing Team to develop a Scope 3 GHG emissions reduction strategy with suppliers, consultants, NGOs and internal teams; including commodity ingredients, packaging, and various non-commodity products.
- Lead periodic strategic reviews of Clorox's climate strategy, plans, goals and targets - including ensuring that KPIs, reporting and management approaches are fit-for-purpose to drive results and also integrating emerging trends, new best practice insights and innovation & technology into our work.
- Partner with R&D, Procurement and other internal stakeholders to develop a 5-10 year outlook on various operational carbon-related technologies and applicability to meeting the Company's climate-related goals.
- Oversee and further develop the company's systems for collection and dissemination of energy usage, water usage and waste generation and disposal data and develop other sustainability evaluation or monitoring systems.
- Manage the Environmental Sustainability disclosures and provide relevant content related to annual reporting processes including the Annual Report, MSCI, Sustainalytics and others, coordinating with ESG Disclosure Committee as required.
- Manage the annual CDP Climate, Water submissions and Forests submissions.
- Build awareness of the company's ESG leadership internally and externally including representing Clorox in speaking opportunities at conferences.
What we look for:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, or equivalent experience; Master's degree in business, environmental science, sustainability or engineering a plus.
- 7+ years in Environmental Sustainability roles with in-depth knowledge of CPG / manufacturing operations and supply chains and experience in managing and reporting on energy, greenhouse gas (GHG), emissions, and renewable energy.
- Significant experience developing complex corporate carbon footprints covering Scope 1 & 2 and all Scope 3 categories; experience in assessing and implementing digital platforms for carbon footprinting. Familiarity with multiple platforms and their integration with existing corporate systems is preferred.
- Experience driving long-term, global environmental programs and setting, measuring, tracking performance against public goals; a clear and applied understanding of corporate best practices in identifying, assessing, managing, and monitoring emissions over a multi-year timeframe.
- A strong understanding of current guidelines and upcoming developments in carbon accounting frameworks (e.g. GHG Protocol) and other frameworks that may influence accounting decisions (e.g. SBTi, proposed SEC climate-related disclosures)
- Knowledge of and experience with carbon measurement and sustainability reporting frameworks such as CDP, GRI, TCFD, SASB, ISSB or other accepted standardized reporting systems
- Ability to create a well-defined project plan, capturing business requirements and project scope, while sequencing activities and resources
- Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills, with ability to lead teams, synthesize input and information, and offer recommendations / solutions; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders of multiple levels, within and outside the company.
- Excellence in development and delivery of presentations for executive audiences, with ability to distill and effectively communicate highly complex information to leaders.
Workplace type:
Hybrid: This position will be based in Oakland, CA; Pleasanton, CA; Durham, NC; or Alpharetta, GA. The individual will go into the office three days a week and can work remotely the other two days.

Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.
-Zone A: $171,700 - $352,600
-Zone B: $157,400 - $324,200
-Zone C: $143,100 - $294,700
