Overview

The Director of Emergency Services provides leadership/management oversight responsibilities for the Emergency Department, Observation Unit, Safe Child Program, Trauma Services and Pre-Hospital Department to provide quality patient care in an emergent and urgent situations.

The position requires 24 hours/day 7 days/week responsibility.


Responsibilities

Leadership and Development
* Develops, implements, controls, and evaluates department budgets and productivity.

* Completes departmental training, education, and development.

* Develops, implements, and evaluates secession plans, competency based performance evaluation systems and parallel development programs in contribution to associate development and organizational growth.

* Maintains financial budgets.
Employee Engagement
* Promotes evidence-based practice, and excellence in patient care, patient safety and patient experience.

* Assesses, measures, and continuously improves employee engagement scores and ensures that high scores are maintained.
Compliance/Safety
* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.

* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.

* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.

* Assesses, measures and continuously improves quality and safety measures.

* Ensures department and staff are consistently prepared for site/unit visits – (i.e.: DNV, ADHS, internal audits, hazardous surveillance rounds).

* Assesses, measures and continuously improves patient experience scores are and ensures that high scores are maintained.


Qualifications

Education
BSN- Required

Master's Degree required within 3 years of hire- Required

Experience
Minimum 5 years clinical experience- Required

Minimum 3 years management experience in acute healthcare setting– Required

Certification & Licensures
Active, unrestricted, Arizona RN License - Required

BLS (American Heart Association)- Required

Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
