Job Description
The Director of the Early Childhood Education Lab Program is responsible for the development and oversight of the cohesive children's educational programs on CSN's North Las Vegas and West Charleston Campus. The Director provides leadership and coordination of services including the operation of the laboratory program that supports the education and training of students in Early Childhood Education and other related disciplines. This position is responsible for the development of program policies, procedures, goals, and budget, as well as strategies for implementation of cohesive philosophy, mission, and operational procedures for the complex and multi-site operation.
The Director assures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations including, but not limited to Nevada Department of Education, the National Association for the Education of Young Children Academy for Early Childhood Accreditation, State of Nevada Childcare Licensing Bureau, Southern Nevada Health District, State of Nevada State Fire Marshal, and OSHA compliance. This individual will also provide direction and oversight in personnel administration, staff supervision, fiscal administration, facility management and program administration; participates in on college committees and provides expertise to the college administration for the field of Early Childhood Education and Child and Family support.
They will act as a community liaison participating in and collaborating with affiliated agencies, and programs in support of children and families. The Early Childhood Education Lab Program operates within the School of Education, Behavioral and Social Sciences, with a multi-faceted mission and is expected to provide the following:
  • High quality, model Early Care and Education Programs for infants through five years of age.
  • CSN students studying Early Childhood Education and related fields model laboratory sites for observation, practice, and student teaching experiences.
  • Support CSN parent/students by offering high quality care at a reduced rate.
  • An operation that is seen a community partner with related agencies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field (Child Development, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Child, and Family Studies, etc.) with at least 36 credits in Early Childhood Education or Child Development; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of classroom experience with children from infant to five years of age.
  • 4 years of proven leadership and management and training, i.e. state of Nevada supervisory trainings, college coursework, professional development.
  • 4 years of professional administrative and supervisory experience in an Early Childhood setting to include employee hiring and development, and fiscal management.
  • Grant Writing experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters' degree from an accredited college/university in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Proven ability to design, implement and review high quality Early Childhood programs.
  • Proven experience with ECE regulatory and quality improvement systems, i.e. Silver Stars QRIS, NAEYC, accreditation programs.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Experience working with data management systems, i.e. ProCare, Workday.
  • Experience working with a diverse/multicultural student body and / or workforce.

The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions and take actions independently for a variety of diverse situations.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of creativity and initiative.
  • C Campus Grants, Nevada Ready Grants and Programs knowledge and experience a plus.

Salary information:
Administrative Faculty D - The starting salary is $94,455.
