Position Summary...
What you'll do...
Are you ready to take on an exciting and dynamic role as the Director of Creative - Packaging Designfor the Member's Mark brand? You will lead a team of experienced designers and agency partners to create captivating and visually stunning packaging assets that bring our brand's guidelines to life across various channels, both online and in our clubs. Your responsibilities will go beyond just leading the Packaging Design team. You will also play a pivotal role in shaping the team's strategy for new and emerging Packaging Design solutions. This includes exploring technical solutions that automate the creative process, making it more efficient.
Additionally, you will collaborate with the creative director to develop innovative private brand Packaging Design strategies to set us apart from the competition. Understanding the Member's Mark businesses is crucial in this role. You will leverage your creative solutions to drive business results and ensure that our Packaging Designs align with our brand's objectives. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating packaging assets that not only look beautiful, but also contribute to the success of our business. Collaboration is key in our fast-paced environment. You will work with cross-functional teams within Sam's Club to ensure that creative perspectives are included in the development of new products and initiatives. Your recommendations and advocacy will help shape the direction of our brand and ensure that our creative vision is realized.
Portfolio Required - A portfolio showcasing a diverse range of Packaging Design projects, highlighting creativity, innovation. This role will be based out of our home office location in Bentonville, Arkansas. Please note that this role will not support immigration-related employment benefits such as H-1B, TN, L-1, or STEM Extension
What you'll do:
  • Leading a team of creative professionals: You will be responsible for guiding and inspiring a team of talented individuals to ideate and produce assets that align with our brands' packaging strategy and objectives, while adhering to our brand guidelines.
  • Understanding the Member's Mark business and strategies: It is crucial for you to have a deep understanding of our business and strategies in order to proactively solve problems and support our business needs. This knowledge will enable you to make informed decisions and drive results.
  • Executing high-quality Creative Packaging assets: Your role will involve executing high-quality packaging assets that elevate our brand's creative and design standards. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will be reflected in every project.
  • Staying informed about category packaging efforts, competitive landscape, and industry trends: It is essential for you to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in category packaging, the competitive landscape, and industry trends. This knowledge will help you make informed decisions and keep our brand at the forefront of innovation.
  • Collaborating with creative agencies: You will work closely with creative agencies to scale our work, negotiate contracts and service level agreements, and ensure that deliverables are timely and compliant with our brand standards.
  • Fostering a collaborative and cohesive culture: Creating a collaborative and cohesive culture across the creative team is vital. You will lead, motivate, mentor, and coach team members, supporting their career development and helping them reach their full potential.
  • Developing inspiring concepts: Your role will involve developing inspiring concepts that translate into captivating, dynamic, and multi-faceted packaging assets. Your creativity and innovative thinking will be instrumental in creating impactful designs.
  • Constructively challenging conventional creative solutions: You will have the opportunity to challenge conventional creative solutions and generate bold ideas and breakthrough thinking. Your ability to think outside the box will set us apart from the competition and drive our brand's success.

What you'll bring:
10+ years of experience in Creative Packaging Design, demonstrating a deep understanding of the field.
- Track record of successfully leading and managing a team of creative professionals, fostering collaboration
- A passion for innovative solutions and a drive to push boundaries in Packaging Design.
- Proficient knowledge of design principles, including typography, photography, layout, and the printing production process.
- Solid understanding of current packaging trends and the competitive market, with the ability to stay ahead of industry developments.
- Experience collaborating with design operations, merchants, brand managers, and other cross-functional partners to deliver cohesive and impactful Packaging Designs.
- Retail industry experience, particularly in omnichannel and private brand design, is a valuable asset.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), InVision, Sketch, and After Effects/Motion, demonstrating technical expertise in design software.
- A genuine passion for Walmart, Sam's Club, their values, partners, and products, driving a strong commitment to the brand and its success.
Minimum Qualifications...

Bachelor's degree in Design, Marketing, Creative Writing, Advertising, Fine Arts, or related field and 7 years' experience leading creative teams OR 9 years' experience leading creative teams.
