Job SummaryProvides leadership and management for student success in Counseling and Psychological Services. Provides leadership and input to health and well-being initiatives for the AVP for Student Well-being and campus and community partners.
ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Strategic and budgetary oversight of the offices of Counseling and Psychological Services
2. Planning, administration, management, and evaluation of the Counseling and Psychological Services team, services, and operations, including direct supervision of assigned staff that includes leaders, Psychiatrist, clinical and other personnel.
3. Develops, implements, and reviews departmental policy and procedures.
4. Demonstrated ability in assessing operation, technical, and communication activities in an educational setting and use of assessment results to make changes in services to students.
5. Demonstrated ability to identify and implement short and long-term strategic goals and initiatives to enhance student success and customer service.
6. Oversight of the coordination, consultation, and guidance for crisis/liaison services, including intervention and post-intervention services for emergencies and highly acute critical incidents
7. Assists divisional leadership regarding policy and practices in support of campus mental health, community education and awareness
8. Collaborating with various departments and committees to provide support, outreach, and consultation to campus community to promote interactions that build upon and increase both the campus community and student's knowledge around mental health and awareness of campus resources.
9. In partnership with the divisional development director oversees all fundraising activities by assessing the Center's needs and resources, work to identify new funding source, develop the grant proposal strategy, and cultivates key relationships with community stakeholders and donors.
10. Provides support for other divisional priorities and initiatives beyond the scope of the department
Educational Requirements
Masters from an accredited program in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related field of study
Other Required Qualifications
Licensed to practice as a mental health professional in the State of Georgia.
If hold an unencumbered licensed in another state and eligible to be endorsed for licensure by the Georgia Secretary of State Office, must be able to obtain state of Georgia license within one (1) year
Required Experience
Seven (7) years of combined experience with five (5) years as a mental health professional and three (3) years of progressive management responsibilities in a university counseling center, related student affairs units, or related field with applicable clinical and/or administrative experience
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Doctorate from an accredited program in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related field of study
ABILITIES
Able to provide significant collaboration and participation with on and off-campus partners in support of college student population presenting with mental health concerns across the continuum of care
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
Ability to establish and maintain successful strategic collaborations across departments and divisions within a University
Demonstrated ability to develop strong collaborative relationships across departments and to lead others
KNOWLEDGE
Advanced knowledge and skill in the development, implementation, and evaluation of models of mental health and accessibility services
Knowledge of professional, national, and state ethical guidelines
SKILLS
Experience gathering and engaging in data-informed decision-making, knowledge of current trends in collegiate mental health and accessibility services
Familiarity with short-term models of treatment
Experience providing administrative and clinical supervision
Experience with electronic health management record systems
Intermediate understanding of databases, mental health, remote learning and telehealth technologies
Experience in student affairs leadership and public administration
Experience working with diverse individuals and groups
Successful collaboration with treatment team and external constituents
Promotes positive mental health attitudes and behaviors
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite, Desktop Publishing software)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
