The essential responsibilities of the Director Corporate Safety are to report to the vice President. Direct, control and oversee the overall operations of the Corporate Safety Department functions to include directing, developing long term and strategic objective to create a positive safety culture throughout all levels of the Division, and the Division’s Occupational Safety and Health initiatives, including safety manuals, procedures, and protocols. Oversee the state -mandated services for non-occupational/ occupational injuries of employees and the daily workflow and schedules of staff. Oversee the MLGW Arc Flash compliance functions in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards. Responsible for developing/ modifying and implementing the occupational safety programs for the division and providing technical consultative support by analyzing and evaluating safety conditions across the division. Plan/ schedule/coordinate and facilitate the development of safety training to meet the Division’s objectives, monitor progress and quality of safety/ technical training programs and initiatives by measuring and comparing historical information to make improvement. Implement occupational safety programs designed to control operational/ environmental work hazards, analyzing a variety of factors that impact employee safety and take appropriate actions. Develop/review budgets and recommendations for detailed studies; develop best alternatives and follow up as necessary; conduct briefings, planning sessions and develop safety training for all Division areas and enforce company policy when necessary. Responsible for overseeing all Safety/ Field Training operations which include providing training on health education, occupational injuries/ diseases, and other Division health concerns to Division employees. Educate the public on general utility safety; oversee the investigations of safety incidents; developing departmental process including accident/ incident investigation and reviewing/updating the safety manuals specific to each utility service. Make presentations to internal/ external customers; prepare/analyze/provide comparative data, industrial studies/surveys, and other information; and provide status updates of Safety to President/ Vice-Presidents and other parties as required. Meet/ counsel with various departmental employees and customers; resolve problems and make recommendations as required; stay abreast of changes in safety regulation, practice, and trending. Responsible for the overall safe work practices and operations of safety/ Occupational Health Industry. Perform other duties as directed.


Qualifications


Qualification Requirements:

To perform the Director, Corporate Safety role, you must:
-Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Safety, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field of study. Master's degree preferred. -Seven (7) years of experience in utility, construction, or field operations safety. -Must have an occupationally significant combination of in-depth job knowledge; excellent communications (verbal/written), proven analytical, problem solving-decision making, leadership, customer relations, and resource management skills; a high level of integrity; abilities in working as a team and promoting safety work practices: facility with numbers to prepare/review financial/statistical reports; flexibility to adjust to changing conditions; and demonstrated ability to motivate a diverse workforce and community. -Must successfully complete NIMS Training within one (1) year of entering the job. -Must have a valid driver's license from state of residence.
Physical Working Conditions:
Works majority of time in the office under good conditions. Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment. The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities.
