Job Description
This role is responsible for leading a team to develop and execute our strategies for the primary touchpoints with our consumers across their online shopping experience including:
Marketing and advertising: Manage our ecommerce advertising efforts across platforms to enable efficient sales growth
o Develop the short & long-term marketing/advertising strategy for eCommerce including the establishment of an annual operating budget as well as perpetual recalibration of our spend across platforms.
o Develop and manage a calendar of merchandising and marketing activities across platforms brands and seasons.
o Lead interface with 3rd party marketing, merchandising agencies and/or other external partners to deliver business results. This includes periodic re-evaluation of the scope, cost, and efficacy of those partnerships.
Social commerce: Develop our brand presences across social media platforms to drive online sales.
o Create and manage an appropriate social commerce strategy for American Greetings; partners with Chief Product Officer, Chief Merchandising Officer, Sales Leadership, and Shopper Marketing to manage channel and/or retailer implications of company's social commerce strategy
Merchandising and SEO: Establish, monitor and execute strategy for online merchandising across all platforms where we sell our products online that maximizes conversion.
o Set up and maintain all product detail pages including optimization of product titles, descriptions, images, videos, SEO levers and A+ content in coordination with the product development teams.
o Manage the process and capacity constraints of the merchandising process
Business Planning: Develops plans, budgets, and measurement/monitoring to maximize the efficacy of all these touchpoints in coordination with the Executive Director and other teams across American Greetings
Communication of our Consumer Engagement Strategy to internal and external partners as necessary.
Team Leadership: Lead & develop a team of 5-10 full-time employees; develop a best-in-class capability for online merchandising, advertising, and social commerce; set high performance standards and ensure 3rd party agencies/partners deliver against those standards.
Experience Required:
• 8+ years in ecommerce with 5+ focused on merchandising and/or marketing
• Experience in both online merchandising and marketing is mandatory
• Amazon experience is mandatory
• Project management or related experience in directing and managing cross-functional teams under tight deadlines
• Managing and developing a group of direct reports
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Outstanding problem-solving skills including excellent analytical and reasoning skills and strategic thinking capabilities
• Advanced abilities in online merchandising and marketing/advertising with strong working knowledge of various tools related to key word analysis, share of voice (SOV), and automatic ad auction/bidding
• Demonstrated ability to synthesize lots of disparate information and distill key insights from large data sets
• Confidence in taking calculated risks and to move with sense of urgency
• Ability to effectively manage one's own time & resources to ensure multiple priorities are balanced and managed successfully
• In-depth knowledge of the competitive market and a passion for maintaining a strong understanding of this market
• Demonstrated leadership ability (e.g., ability to establish a vision, to communication effectively, to make sound strategic decisions, to create a conducive environment or culture within which to work, to be honest and behave with integrity, etc)
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong working knowledge of financial impacts of decisions
• Excellent communication skills -written and oral
• Strong PC skills to include ability to use Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, etc)
