Where the Chemistry Happens
The Director, Communications and Industry Affairs is an executive management position that serves as part of three key leadership communities within BASF: Agricultural Solutions North America (APN), Agricultural Solutions Global Communications Leadership Team, and BASF Corporation North America. The role leads comprehensive, strategic programs for five (5) distinct areas: Internal Communications, Marketing Communications, Media and Social Communications, Brand & Issue Management, and Community Relations & Partnerships. One and/or all of these programs serve to advance the vision, mission and goals of the four (4) AP businesses (U.S. Crop, Seed Treatment, Professional & Specialty Solutions and Canada), partnering function and BASF.
This position will lead a team of 5-6 direct reports which are all managers.

    Leverage your notable people leadership and results driven nature, while you lead and role-model behaviors for a team(s) of senior communications professionals who are empowered to work collaboratively and effectively with key stakeholders across the organization Impart your strong, active participation in the development of the Agricultural Solutions regional strategy and full understanding of the global strategy enabling your development of short and longer-term integrated strategic goals, plans, and metrics to advance the Agricultural Solutions brand identity through oversight and management of Internal Communications, Marketing Communications, Media and Social Communications, Brand & Issue Management, and Community Relations & Partnerships Capitalize on your vast experience and success delivering multiple projects of significant business impact (e.g. sustainability, marketing communications, local/national outreach campaigns, etc.) and your high comfort level with ambiguity and "white space", enabling your continuous demonstration and ability to build and manage transformational initiatives from inception to delivery Demonstrate passion for coaching senior leadership on communications and public affairs strategy, while acting as a lead spokesperson for BASF to proactively manage crisis and containment

Education
  • Minimum BA/BS degree, MBA preferred

Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive career growth in communications, marketing, industry relations and/or related areas

Knowledge/Skills
  • Strategic leadership - development of short- and long-term strategic direction
  • Proven experience designing marketing programs that drive topline revenue growth through brand awareness.
  • Firm understanding of the regional, global business landscape.
  • Experienced in budget management in excess of ~$20m and associated resource allocation.
  • Strategic financial decision-making experience.
  • Project Management.
  • Management of large and complex external 3rd party vendor relationships.
  • Proven ability to distill complex matters into clear, easy-to-understand messaging.
  • Flexibility, with the ability to manage many requirements simultaneously.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (including public speaking/presentation skills)
