The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) currently has an opening for a Veterans Affairs Manager to serve as Director of the Bureau of Cemeteries and Memorial Services . This position will be headquartered in either King, Spooner, Union Grove, or Madison, WI. The headquarter location will be based on candidate preference and the needs of the department.

Position Summary
This position functions as the Director of the Bureau of Cemeteries and Memorial Services (Bureau Director) and maintains responsibility for the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) tri-cemetery system which encompasses the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Union Grove, the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at King, and the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spooner; and the Military Funeral Honors Program. This is a management position with responsibility for program planning, coordination and implementation, budget management, and staff supervision.
The Bureau Director provides leadership and allocates resources to implement the Bureau's mission, goals and objectives, and monitors compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and policies of the Department and Division. The incumbent also collaborates with other governmental and voluntary organizations at the federal, state, and local levels to best monitor and manage the effectiveness of all programs.

Salary Information
The starting salary for this position will be between $99,840 - $107,120 annually ($48.00 - $51.50 per hour), depending on candidate qualifications, plus an attractive employee benefits package.
This classification is in pay schedule-pay range 81-01. For current state employees, pay on appointment will be based on the provisions in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.
This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.
A two-year career executive trial period may be required.
Job Details
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without WDVA sponsorship) at the time of application.
This position will require frequent statewide travel to department locations including the WDVA Central Office in Madison.
Qualifications
