The Director, ASC Operations will have operational responsibility over all Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs), including oversight of the Regional Director of Operations (RDO) and Practice Administrators (PA) on ASC matters with dotted line reporting to the ASC Nurse Managers. This role will report into the Anterior Division President.
- Establishes both the EyeSouth ASC standard operating procedures (SOP) and EyeSouth ASC M&A due diligence and integration SOP’s as they relate to driving best practices, efficiencies, proactive risk mitigation and ensuring a scalable and repeatable process.
- Directs and oversees all operational leadership for all ASC’s, which includes regular on-site visits, recurring operational meetings and proactive management of KPI’s.
- Establishes and monitors ASC Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Leads the build out of new ASC dashboards, in conjunction with operations, finance and data analytics team.
- Serves as the corporate subject matter expert for all ASC Nurse Managers and facilitates recurring Nurse Manager meetings.
- Identifies opportunities to prevent and reverse negative trends and improve underperforming ASCs.
- Create ASC improvement plans at specific affiliates and leads implementation of the necessary changes.
- Establishes ASC reporting packages for both internal and external stakeholders, inclusive of both KPI and financial performance.
- Manages ASC capital budgeting and expenditures.
- Oversees ongoing audits where appropriate to ensure adherence to ASC regulatory compliance requirements.
- Implements new inventory management and control systems in conjunction with procurement and A&F teams.
- Proactively identifies opportunities for case volume growth through both EyeSouth affiliated surgeons and external surgeons.
- Contributes to best practices for facilitating surgeon retention, recruitment and satisfaction for both internal and external surgeons of EyeSouth.
- Implements strategies for maintaining and monitoring patient satisfaction within our ASC’s.
- Implements processes and procedures in conjunction with other corporate EyeSouth shared service leaders where related (i.e. HR for ASC staffing and retention matters, Marketing for reputation management, etc.).
- Oversees and fosters relationships with all ASC third party vendors, including regular review and negotiation of vendor contracts.
- Implements and manages new and existing compliance programs, in conjunction with Chief Compliance Officer and outsourced vendor(s).
- Serves as key subject matter expert for oversight on de novo ASC developments to ensure prioritization of opportunities, coordination between internal and external stakeholders, including project managers, Regional Directors of Operations, and Practice Administrators.
- Identifies operational opportunities and risk as part of M&A due diligence related to the ASC’s, in conjunction with our Business Development and Compliance teams.
- Ensures any deficiencies noted in ASC M&A diligence are prioritized and corrected as soon as practical post-close.
- Contributes to the team effort by completing additional projects and tasks as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Finance/Healthcare Administration required (MBA or MSHA a plus).
- Minimum of 5 years of ASC management experience in a multi-state environment required.
- Eye care industry experience required.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team and drive performance improvement, demonstrated by progressive increases in management responsibility and achievement of financial performance goals
- Strong financial aptitude with ability and interest in taking full ownership over the P&L.
- Ability to work beyond the normal hours, as needed (including potential weekends).
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills; written and documentation skills.
- Professional & reliable demeanor with strong work ethic.
- Excellent time management skills, organizing and prioritizing workload, in order to meet deadlines.
