Direct Support Professional

We are looking for a Direct Support Professional who is committed to empowering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to participate in their community. As a Direct Support Professional you will support developmentally disabled clients. You will work directly with individuals who have a variety of needs to help them live, learn and work in the community. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that typically involves working evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities:

• Provide emotional support and companionship for clients.
• Instill a feeling of security for clients, e.g. during moves between different facilities.
• Understand and follow the clients’ needs and preferences (e.g. cultural, spiritual and sexual orientation-related needs).
• Provide basic physical care such as dressing, grooming, bathing and feeding, when applicable.
• Clean after clients, change bedsheets and provide a soothing atmosphere to reduce agitation.
• Provide safety, companionship or other types of support services.
• Manage assessment, needs and risks by communicating regularly with nurses, health care professionals, other service providers and clients’ family members.
• Document all activities.
• Perform other tasks like preparing budgets and managing assets.

Candidates Must Be :

• 18 Years or older
• Valid Drivers licenses ( No more than 5 points)
• High School Diploma or GED
• Own Transportation ( Preferred )
• Subject to background checks and drug testing
• 1 year Caregiver Experience (Optional)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour
